It’s not okay to center yourself at our expense. By speaking for our land and our future with no consent you are undermining our human right to self determination. Land or ‘āina is our grandmother to whom all Kanaka long to return too. Being a good ally means standing behind us in our struggle for justice not organizing without us for what you believe is justice.

Kanaka and Ni’ihauan led recovery efforts for West Kaua’i. Ka Lāhui Hawai’i and Kako’o Lāhui are proud to kōkua this beloved community many of whom are native speakers of our language. We have distributed thousands in supplies, water, food, equipment to this community. Please help us continue our work. We are grateful to be working with Hi’ianelani o Ni’ihau and the many community partners. Yesterday tents, fresh milk, fruits, peanut butter and kombucha was distributed. 8,172 acres of stolen Hawaiian lands are at stake as the Navy and NASA seek continued use of lands at PMRF and Kōkeʻe. Kauaʻi is still recovering from Hurricane Lowell. After checking in with west and north side groups they are asking that get more than six days’ notice and that the decision-making hearing be held on Kauaʻi so the people most directly impacted can meaningfully participate.

Day 4 of the Piko Gathering. So many mahalos and so many hands helped to make the Ka Lāhui Hawai’i and Maui Medics Healers Hui Piko Gathering such a success. We want to especially thank the Kitchen Crew, our Hosts Aunty Millie and Family, all our speakers who flew up, and all who registered to be a part of this uplifting educational weekend to help prepare us for the road ahead. Pilina was built and strengthened with each other, ‘āina, kai and nature. This was a space for meditation, healing and rest as well. And last but not least we want to thank Keoki Dudoit owner of Discount Hotel Furniture for the couches that made all the difference for the comfort of our Kūpuna.
