HAWAII TO BE IMPACTED BY ANOTHER TROPICAL SYSTEM🌀🌧️🌊Tropical Depression Two-C has officially formed in the Central Pacific, southeast of Hawaii, and is expected to strengthen while moving west-northwest toward the Hawaiian Islands late this week and into the weekend! Residents across Hawaii should begin closely monitoring this system, as impacts are becoming increasingly possible. Heavy rainfall is expected to begin reaching the Big Island late Saturday night before spreading westward across the remainder of the Hawaiian Islands Sunday into Monday. This could lead to life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides, especially across steep terrain and areas recently impacted by Lala. There is also a growing risk for strong winds, dangerous surf and large waves across portions of Hawaii regardless of the system’s exact track and intensity. Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watches could be issued for portions of the islands as early as tonight or Friday. There is still uncertainty regarding exactly where the center will track and how strong the system will become so don’t focus on one specific line or point within the forecast cone. The potential impacts can extend well away from the center. Now is the time to review hurricane preparedness plans and closely monitor forecast updates over the next couple of days🌀🌧️🌊

HAWAII HURRICANE🌀❓the potential for tropical impacts around Hawaii is increasing for late this weekend into early next week as a developing system approaches the Central Pacific! An area of low pressure is becoming better organized well east-southeast of Hawaii. Conditions appear favorable for additional development, and a Tropical Depression is likely to form within the next day as the system moves west to west-northwest at 10-15 mph. The chance of tropical development is now at 90%. Most forecast guidance currently either keeps the center of the developing system just south of the Hawaiian Islands or tracking near the southern fringe of the Islands. If the system stays offshore, it could still bring an increase in tropical moisture to the state. Rain and thunderstorm chances are expected to increase Sunday into Monday, regardless of the track, potentially bringing periods of locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds depending on the system's eventual strength, track and size. There is still considerable uncertainty because a defined tropical cyclone has not formed yet. Even relatively small changes in the eventual track could make a significant difference in impacts across Hawaii. For now, there is no reason to panic but residents and visitors across the Hawaiian Islands should closely monitor forecasts over the next few days. Confidence in the track, intensity and potential impacts will improve considerably once the system develops and becomes better organized🌴🌧️🌀
