Jesus told His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2). This week, would you pray that prayer over Texas? Ask God to raise up laborers, pastors, planters, teachers, and everyday believers willing to go, right here in our own state.

Our mission is multiplication: churches raising up leaders from within and sending them out to plant new communities of faith. The next great planter in Texas might be sitting in your congregation right now, growing in faith, waiting to be noticed and invited into the call.

Behind every sermon, every hospital visit, every late-night phone call, there's a pastor who is tired and needs prayer. Today, take a moment to pray for the pastors of the Texas District, the ones leading established churches and the ones just getting a new plant off the ground. Pray for their strength, their families, and their joy in the work.

Churches don't need to be new to be healthy. Another way LCMC Texas District pursues our mission is revitalization, coming alongside existing congregations that are ready for new life. Every church has a story, and for some, the next chapter is renewal rather than replacement. If your church is in a season of asking what's next, the district wants to walk with you.

☀️ Good Morning & Happy Sunday! ☀️
Today's Scripture | Matthew 16:21-28

"From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you." But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man." Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Following Jesus means setting our minds on the things of God rather than the things of man, even when that calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross. As we sit with that truth this morning, let us turn our hearts to prayer for those who are seeking first God's kingdom in their daily work right here in the Texas District.

🙏 Let Us Pray for One Another
God of Heaven and earth, you call your children to seek first your kingdom and righteousness. We pray for this work throughout the Texas District of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. Bless and prosper the work of our District staff as they support your mission. Today we also pray for Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas and their pastor, Lalahery Andriamihaja (Pastor La). By your Holy Spirit, give them the strength of faith to answer your call to make disciples.
Amen. 🙏

If you ever wonder what the Texas District is actually trying to do, here it is in one sentence: we exist to support congregations in pursuit of our shared vision of seeing disciples and churches multiplied across Texas. Not just churches that grow bigger. Churches that multiply, raising up more disciples who raise up more disciples, more leaders who raise up more leaders, more churches that plant more churches. That's the vision we're chasing.

☀️ Good Morning & Happy Sunday! ☀️
Today's Scripture | Matthew 16:13-20

"Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

Peter's confession, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God," is the rock on which Christ builds his church, a truth every generation of leaders must claim for themselves. As we sit with that truth this morning, let us turn our hearts to prayer for those who are equipping faithful laborers to carry that confession forward right here in the Texas District.

Lord of the Harvest, you declare that the harvest is plentiful and invite your people to pray earnestly for laborers in your harvest field. Be with the faculty and staff of Harvest Workers, our online ministry training program, as they equip future leaders for mission. Today we also give you thanks for First English Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas and their pastor, Chip Reynolds. Bless their ministry both now and for generations to come.

Go, My Children, With My Blessing - Exclusive Verse

As a part of our closing worship at Gathering, Manuel Tábora of St. Paul, New Braunfels, gave us an unforgettable gift: a new verse he wrote especially for “Go, My Children, With My Blessing” (With One Voice #721). This was built entirely around this year’s theme. His verse gave voice to exactly what it means to be CALLED: gathered together by God, scattered like seed into our towns and beyond, and sent out, always carrying his proclamation with us. Manuel has given his permission for this verse to be reprinted and sung in our congregations, thank you, Manuel, for sharing your gift with us all!

“Go, my servants, Called and gathered,
Never alone.
Through my Spirit’s power scattered
Seeds that are sown.
From your towns to distant nations,
You will bring my proclamation;
Witness to this generation:
You are my own.”
