This year’s Green Thumb series continues Saturday, June 13th with the Martin Street Tree Walk.
Join Illinois Extension Master Gardener Tony Greep as he leads a casual outdoor tree walk down Martin Street in Downtown Homewood. We will identify the tree species in the parkway and talk about the challenges street trees face and why they are so valuable to our quality of life. This walk will be slightly longer than a half mile at a slow leisurely pace, with plenty of time for conversation and discussion.
We will meet at the southern end of Martin square at Martin and Ridge near the Homewood Outdoor Farmer’s Market. In case of inclement weather, we will announce the cancellation here and to folks who have subscribed to our email list.
Green Thumb Saturdays are free to attend and no registration is required.
Held from 9:30 to 10:15 am at Homewood Village Hall, Green Thumb Saturdays is an annual series of educational workshops on gardening and environmental topics held on the second Saturday of every month from April through October. Green Thumb Saturdays are co-sponsored by the Illinois Extension Master Gardeners and the Village of Homewood, Illinois Tree Committee.
