TWO DAYS! GAH! Is anyone else as excited as we are?!?!?
Saturday from noon-6 pm is the brand new Big Lake Community Farmer's Market and it's being held right here on the farm!
Common Ground Alaska Farmstead 6189 S. Carat St.
Here's the plan for Saturday:
(Spoiler alert - we have classes (foraging), farm info, and vendors so read to the end!)
VENDORS:
🦟 Mosquito Mama will have her awesome sauces and rubs - did you know she's been doing this for almost two decades? She's got flavor perfected - I can't wait for you check out her products!
🥛 Kanika Kay will be here with raw milk for folks with shares and with all the knowledge you need to sign up for a raw milk share! (Shhh ... I hear there might be homemade french macarons at her booth, too! But don't tell her you heard it from me - haha!)
🍪 Mama’s sweet and sour dough microbakery can't be here in person but she's dropping off some amazing baked goods so you can still satisfy your sweet tooth - and then she will be here every week following.
🌿 Bountiful Blessings Homestead will also be here with her all natural extracts remedies and cleaners. She has an incredible array of items for your household - and it's all homemade with all natural ingredients.
Plus, the Gathering Table Farmstand by Common Ground Alaska. At the Gathering Table, we will be featuring:
🍋🍋 Homemade, fresh squeezed lemonade sweetened with sucanat - which is minimally processed sugar full of good minerals.
🫐🍦The debut of Common Ground Honeyberry Ice Cream by Big Dipper Homemade Ice Cream
🌲 Spruce Tip & Dandelion shortbread cookies
🌾 Treats made from Alaska grown barley
🍎 Fresh milled cookies and cobblers
🌟 Plus: the debut of our General Store & Mercantile featuring wholesome foods that heal, not harm and so many amazing products made by local Alaskans. You're going to love it!
Foraging for & Utilizing Wild Seeds & Grains in Alaska with Patrice Hale
CLASS TIME: Noon and 2 pm
⭐️➡️😳 💥Finally, Patrice Hale has graciously offered to do a class "Foraging for Wild Seeds & Grains in Alaska" where she will share how she (gosh I get excited about this - you won't believe what she can do!) makes baked goods and even sourdough bread WITH ONLY FORAGED GRAINS AND SEEDS! Guys, you can DO this in Alaska! Who knew? Apparently just Patrice - but she's willing to share it with you! Join her at noon or 2 pm here at the farmer's market on Saturday and you can learn all about it - and get some samples!
FARM INFO:
The farm will be open FREE to the public on Saturday, too! Typically we charge $5 admission but we're opening the doors wide this weekend to welcome you all! Enjoy the beautifully curated orchard and even take in a game or two! We have spike ball, badminton and more out there! (U-Pick will be opening toward the end of July.)
In the coming weeks, the market is growing as we're bringing in new vendors (veggies, fresh flowers, and even homemade overalls!) plus food trucks so we hope to see you this weekend and many following weekends! We appreciate that you support local - and we've got lots more coming up!
OH! And one of these weeks, we'll be doing some square dancing - how fun is that?!?!
ONE RULE: NO DOGS ALLOWED - sorry. We're a working farm with livestock and animals and a few have completely ruined it for everyone. If you need to bring your dog, please park on Carat and do not let your dog out on the farm. I know, it's a bummer for us, too - we love dogs!
See you Saturday! THANK YOU for supporting local!
