May is Mental Health Awareness Month. đź’š

Horses have a remarkable way of helping people slow down, be present, and connect, not just with them, but with themselves and with other humans.

Did you know we offer an unmounted program that focuses on mental health-related outcomes, creating opportunities for growth, confidence, self-awareness, and connection through interactions with our horses.

We’re so excited to help share this opportunity from our friends at Platte County Board of Services!

Parenting and caregiving can feel isolating sometimes, especially when you’re navigating the world of developmental disabilities. Having a space to connect with people who truly understand can make all the difference.

On Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30pm, PCBS will be hosting a Platte & Clay County Parent & Caregiver Connection Group — a welcoming space for parents and caregivers of children and adults with developmental disabilities to connect, share experiences, exchange resources, and build community together.

Whether you’re looking for support, encouragement, new ideas, or simply people who “get it,” this group is for you.

Located at PCBS
7900 NW 106th St
Kansas City, MO 64153

Looking to get involved? Here are just a few of the reasons to celebrate our participants and partner with us for with our upcoming Skills Showcase!

Above everything else, donors always make a direct impact in the lives of our participants. Donate today and you’ll be responsible for many smiles this June (and during every lesson between now and then!).

At NTRC, every participant who walks through our barn doors has a diagnosed disability. That may look like autism, a genetic condition, cerebral palsy, a physical disability requiring a wheelchair, or countless other challenges they navigate every day.

But our horses don’t see labels. They don’t judge. They don’t question whether someone is capable. They simply meet each participant exactly where they are and move forward together.

That kind of acceptance changes lives. It builds confidence, independence, trust, and joy in ways that are hard to fully explain.

If you could use a little more of that perspective in your life, we’d love for you to join the NTRC family as a volunteer.

And if you want to see the impact of Equine Assisted Services firsthand, join us June 13th for our annual Skills Showcase, where participants demonstrate the skills they’ve been building in lessons and just how powerful their time at the center really can be.

Kat’s story is one that truly captures the power of equine assisted services can have. Kat joined us about 6 years ago and her role at the center has grown along with her confidence both in and out of the saddle.

Now, Kat is part owner of one of incredible horses and is a volunteer as well as a participant.

We’re so grateful to have Kat in our NTRC family, so proud of everything she’s accomplished, and can’t wait to see how far she’ll continue to go 💛.

Special thank you to Platte County Board of Services for recording this wonderful interview and capturing Kat’s experience!!
