Painting the Ultimate Sherman, M51 and M50 Israeli Upgrades

Today we’re doing some hobby, where we’re painting some 15mm Cold War upgrades of Sherman tanks. These were 3D printed fro me by Blair, a great friend of the channel. These Shermans include the M50 and M51 “Super Shermans,” jacked up with new turrets, guns, and suspension by the Israeli Defense Force for action in the 1950s, 60s, and even the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Six-Day War in 15mm Wargame - Ferocious Tank Clash at Jeradi Pass (P1, No AI)

We’re back to the modern-era miniatures gaming table with a look at the 1967 Six-Day War. Today’s scenario takes place at the Jeradi Pass along the north coast of the Sinai, fought between Israeli elements of General Tal’s Division and the Egyptian 7th Infantry Division.

Israeli forces have just cut off the Gaza Strip and now push west along the Sinai coastal highway and rail line, intent on reaching the Suez Canal. This route passes through the narrow Jeradi defile, however, hotly defended by entrenched Egyptian tanks and supporting infantry.

Jeradi Defile, sorth Sinai Coast. Sunset, 5 June 1967. End of the first day of the Six-Day War. Lead elements of of MajGen Israel Tal's "ugda" (Division), having bypassed main belt defenses in rhe Khan Yunis / Rafah corridor of the Gaza Strip, now pushes into Egyptian Sinai along the al-Arish road against reinforced units of the 112th Brigade, 7th Egyptian Infantry Division.

Milton GMed Field of Battle III today for Mike, John, Jacob, and Jennifer. The field in question - Lutzen, 1813, in 10mm scale. Ultimately a historical result, or would have been had we played more than one-and-a-bit turns. The Prussians swiped one objective quickly. While they lost an entire brigade going for another, and were stalemated elsewhere, they gave as good as they got and the French were ground down by casualties. Milton intends to run this at Hurricon.

Jim, Jennifer and new member Jacob tried DBA with the latter's delightfully bright Hundred Years War 28s. First a small seven-base-a-side skirmish to learn the rules, then a not too successful attempt at Free-Kriegspieling a siege scenario we thought up on the fly. Turns out DnD, 1973 style, needs more work, but we had fun anyway.

A day of contrasts at the War Office today. The morning game was the Battle of Gonzales, the start of the Texas Revolution. A hard fought win for the Mexicans this time, but the Gonzales militia sold their lives dearly and held the guns at the end of the battle.

This was followed by Cruel Seas, with Kriegsmarine S-Boats coming off second best to the Royal Navy forces screening the Dieppe Raid.
