Today we honor those who help.

Humanitarian workers carry food, clean water, medical care, and hope to communities that have lost almost everything. And yet, many are attacked, detained, or blocked while doing their work. 73% are local staff — people serving their own communities, their own neighbors.

At IFC, we understand this from the inside. We work in Venezuela's most vulnerable communities every day, making sure children have clean water, a daily meal, and access to school — because that, too, is humanitarian action.

Volvimos a la Zona Cero en La Guaira para realizar nuestra segunda entrega de insumos esenciales: equipamos la operación con kits de higiene personal para 200 personas, productos de limpieza y material logístico para que los Misioneros Franciscanos sigan sirviendo 200 comidas diarias a las familias afectadas.

Cada insumo entregado y cada plato servido con dignidad es el resultado directo de personas que decidieron no quedarse de brazos cruzados.

¡La solidaridad se siente en La Guaira! 💙✨

Desde IFC Agua y Desarrollo nos desplegamos en la Zona Cero para entregar insumos de primera necesidad a las familias afectadas por el doble terremoto del 24/6.

Gracias a la generosidad de nuestros donantes, pudimos llevar:
👶 Pañales, fórmula infantil y leche completa.
👕 Ropa, cobijas y juguetes.
🧼 Productos de higiene y utensilios de cocina.
🥫Alimentos no perecederos.

Además, nos unimos al increíble trabajo de la Orden Misionera de Franciscanos Menores Conventuales en Los Corales, quienes preparan 100 desayunos y almuerzos diarios para centros de salud, rescatistas y vecinos en situación vulnerable.

One month. 30 days since the earthquake struck Venezuela, altering the lives of thousands of families in an instant.

When a natural disaster occurs, the world’s initial attention is overwhelming. But as the weeks go by, the cameras leave and the news cycle moves on. Yet, for those who lost everything, the most critical phase of the emergency is just beginning.

According to UNICEF estimates, nearly 680,000 children require direct humanitarian support in healthcare, safe drinking water, and family protection. In hard-hit areas like La Guaira, the lack of clean water and basic sanitation remains a silent threat to the health of the youngest living in temporary shelters.

At IFC, we know that temporary relief solves today, but safe water and ongoing support save tomorrow.

That is why, one month after the tragedy, we haven't stopped. Guaranteeing clean water and proper hygiene is how we restore dignity and health to Venezuelan children.

Behind every tent in a temporary shelter, there is a child who still dreams of a bright future.

Following the devastating earthquakes that severely impacted coastal communities like La Guaira, hundreds of families have been forced to sleep outdoors or in makeshift shelters. While losing a home is devastating, the silent threat is the long-term sanitary and psychological toll this crisis leaves on the youngest.

At IFC (Water and Development for Venezuela), we know that immediate emergency relief is vital, but our ultimate goal is long-term recovery. We don’t just want to deliver one-time aid; we want to ensure these children return to safe environments with sustainable access to clean water, health, and education.

Children have been our driving force since day one. Since we began our work during the height of the pandemic, we committed to protecting the future of Venezuelan children. This tragedy does not change our mission; it compels us to urgently expand our network of support.

For a child with an empty stomach, focusing on a chalkboard is nearly impossible. Their mind doesn’t think about math or reading; it thinks about food. 🏫💔

Recent data reveals a heartbreaking reality about why students are missing classes in Venezuela:

+12% of school absenteeism nationwide is directly due to the lack of food at home.

+11% is due to the absence of meals served at the schools themselves.

This means that nearly 23% of the reasons why classrooms in Venezuela sit empty are tied to an empty plate. Children aren't missing school because they lack interest; they are missing school because hunger weakens them, drains their energy, or forces them to look for sustenance outside the educational system.

At IFC, we see this clearly: the daily meal we serve in our partner school cafeterias is not just nutrition. It is the key that keeps the school door open.
