If we were in Haiti right now we'd be somewhere up on the mountain. I don't mention names anymore, I think we have to be wise about what we share. But this is important. Most of you in FaceBook Land have been to Haiti with me. And those who have know the thrill of riding in the back of the red truck while I'm driving. A lot of you came to Haiti over and over again and helped me do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could have asked or imagined. Well, we'll be ringing the school bells again in a matter of days. Last year we had 1118 students enrolled in school, this year it might be more. But back in the day I could ask for a nickle the help the schools and I would get dollars. My how times have changed. These days I have to beg for a dollar to get a nickle. But I don't really care. I can't stress out about the situation in Haiti anymore. I can't be there, I can only help from afar.
Feeding over 1000 people every school day is no small task. I have some great partners but costs have risen so sharply that we are able to just provide the basics, the beans and rice, cornmeal, gone are the sauces and noodles, the side treats that made the lunches so special like smoked fish, we just can't afford it.
If your heart is in a place to help us this year you can follow the link below and donate through Zeffy. Zeffy doesn't charge us anything, they may ask for a donation.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. As usual, our overhead cost are almost nothing, all our money goes to the programs in Haiti. You might know that in the last 6 years or so we built a 75,000 gallon cistern with a gutter system that empties into the cistern. Before that our teachers had to beg the children to bring a gallon of water to school for cooking. These day they give out water freely, there is never a shortage. This was one of my biggest dreams for the area seeing as how water security was one of the most important issues up there.
We will also be asked for scholarship help by at least 12 students. We had a generous donar who helped make this happen for a few years then suddenly just cut his giving drastically. It has been a huge burden on me trying to keep this up but I've not been able. It costs the mission almost $ 4,000 a year. We will see the increase it it is His will. Times are so hard in Haiti right now that it seems most of our donors are just not giving. The innocent children have nothing to do with the widespread violence. I believe in them, someday they will rise up to take Haiti back!
In other news we have a few widows and orphans we're still looking after, and a couple college students. It's jest getting harder and harder every day.
So, if it's in your heart to give, please do. If you can respond with a monthly commitment that would be fantastic. We'll keep pecking away at the vision, keep feeding children, paying teachers and some day we will see the reward for ourselves!
Text or Private Message me at any time. I'm laying low in Michigan but I miss so many of you, maybe we could have a reunion?
