Yesterday's storms resulted in our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) teams being activated. We are so thankful for the staff and volunteers who feel called to be of service during difficult times. ❤️

Please join us in praying for those who were impacted. 🙏

Our Emergency Disaster Services team is currently responding to communities in Illinois impacted by last night's storm and tornadic activity. As the National Weather Service is deploying survey teams, The Salvation Army is deploying canteens (mobile feeding units) with water and snacks to the most heavily impacted areas - including those in Coles County, serviced by The Salvation Army Mattoon, IL. Please join us in praying for those impacted by these storms.

It’s summer camp season! Some of our best memories are made at camp—friendships, laughter, and new adventures. We want to hear from you—what’s your favorite camp memory? Share your stories below and let’s relive those special moments together! 🌞⛺️

Summer camp isn't just for children and youth! The Salvation Army offers seniors a chance to stay at our beautiful locations, where they can relax with new friends, make special memories, and form a stronger connection with the Lord.

This looks like a great way to kick-off the summer season. Share in the comments if YOU have attended camp as a senior, or worked/volunteered during a senior session, and what you took away from that experience.

We hear stories like this all the time. Our officers and employees are committed to helping everyone who shows up at our doorstep by providing them what they need in that moment.

On this day, it was a birthday cake. Tomorrow it might be with a pair of shoes or a place to sleep. But we can't do it alone.

Please consider calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY and making a donation. It's an opportunity to experience the joy of giving.

Thanks to our supporters, The Salvation Army Northern Division is able to help people in Minnesota and North Dakota who face challenges large and small … even as small as securing a birthday cake.

Such was the case when a single mother came to one of our food shelves. She appeared to be very sad, and when our food shelf worker asked her why, the mother explained that she couldn’t afford to buy a cake for her daughter’s birthday today.

After hearing this news, the worker headed to a back room and dug through a pallet of donations received that morning from a local grocery store. The worker then discovered a big, beautiful birthday cake with the theme, “Happy Birthday, Princess!”

The worker gave the cake to the mother and she was overwhelmed with joy and happiness. She couldn’t wait to go home and celebrate with her daughter.

People of all ages often struggle with how they are perceived by others. If someone asked you this question. How would YOU respond?

: "How do I get over the fear of worrying about what other people think about me?" Captain Joshua Hubbard shares his advice! 💙

"To worry about what others think of you is normal. We live in a very digitally connected world. Everything can be so quickly intertwined, including what everyone else thinks about us.

There are some people whose views of us matter. For you, those are your people. What your people think of you is important. For me, if I am acting out of character, I want to know. If I made a poor judgment call, I want my people to tell me.

But what your people think of you should not create fear or worry, and if it does, ask “Is this person a part of my inner circle?”

When we take on worry of what other people think of us, we allow them a foothold of control in our lives that is not theirs to have. If the work has not been done to create a relationship that is honest, true, and reciprocated, then it is our duty to care for ourselves enough and not own the perception of those outside of our inner circle.

We are made for community. But I would encourage you to remember that Jesus had 12 and of the 12, he had three. Not everyone is going to be in our inner circle, and that’s okay."

To fear God is to honor Him with deep respect and awe—not to be afraid, but to trust in His steadfast love. May we choose reverence over worry and trust over fear, knowing God delights in those who rely on His unfailing love rather than relying on human strength.
