I’m excited to share that our chapter has forged a new partnership with Career Connections!

Career Connections is “an employment and training program that focuses on developing academic, occupational and social skills for persons 16- 24 years of age.” You can read more about their program here: https://wdbmov.com/careerconnections/

Our chapter is going to share the comfort of homemade blankets with the youth in this program this coming Christmas! 🎅🏻🧑‍🎄🎄🎁

So we will be in need of some LARGER size blankets— they often help these youth get started in their first apartments. Throw size blankets (or bigger) would be ideal. Please keep this in mind as you plan out your quilting/crocheting/knitting projects for the rest of the year!

As always, I am so appreciative of our “Blanketeers.” Thank you for sharing your talents with the youth of Southern WV! I can’t wait to see the beautiful blankets we collect this holiday season!

This Christmas Eve feels especially meaningful as we celebrate 30 years of Project Linus—three decades of comfort, compassion, and community.

Since 1995, Project Linus volunteers across the country have lovingly donated over 10 million handmade blankets to children facing illness, trauma, or hardship. Each blanket is more than fabric and thread—it’s a hug, a reminder that someone cares, and a bit of warmth when it’s needed most.

On a night centered around love, generosity, and hope, we’re grateful for every volunteer, every stitch, and every child comforted along the way.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas Eve and heartfelt thanks for being part of this incredible journey.

To you and yours, a very Happy Thanksgiving from Project Linus of Southern West Virginia!

We were privileged to donate 30 blankets to another wonderful community organization, AWAY Formerly Women's Resource Center. These blankets will be given as Christmas gifts to local children this year.

As we pause this holiday week to reflect on all for which we are thankful, I want to express my gratitude to our volunteers who make our chapter possible. Thanks to you, we have donated over 300 new handmade blankets across Southern West Virginia since February 2024.

P.S. I thought it was fitting as Stephen and I drove to the AWAY office today, the “Linus and Lucy” theme from A Charlie Brown Christmas came on!

Attention Blanketeers 📣📣📣

Since Joann’s closed, I have been at a loss of where to direct blanekteers looking for affordable blanket kits. A friend just spotted these fleece blanket kits at Hobby Lobby in Beckley— with a coupon they would be a decent price (still not as affordable as Joann’s 😢). For those of you who like making tie blankets, this might be a good option. Happy blanket making!
