Progress Update from Newfane, Vermont

Yesterday, volunteers from The Humble Servants returned to Newfane to continue serving a local family in need. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, several additional bags of trash were filled and prepared for disposal. While there is still much work ahead, each step brings us closer to providing this family with a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming place to call home.

We will be returning on Wednesday for another volunteer workday and would love to have additional helping hands. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit www.thehumbleservants.org to sign up, or send us a message on Facebook Messenger. Whether you can give a few hours or a full day, your help can make a tremendous difference in someone's life.

As we continue serving families throughout our region, we are seeing a growing need for home repairs among disabled veterans in our communities. Several projects are already lining up, and we are actively seeking volunteers who are willing to use their time, talents, and compassion to help those who have served our country.

Galatians 6:2 reminds us to "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Thank you to everyone who supports this mission through volunteering, donating, and praying. Together, we are making a difference, one family at a time.

Progress Update from The Humble Servants

We are excited to share some recent progress on the property in Newfane, Vermont!

Today, our Director, Carolyn Hall , finished assembling framed screens that will be used tomorrow to sift soil throughout the property. This important step will help us identify and remove hazardous debris that may still be hidden in the ground. Our goal is to make the property as safe as possible for the family, especially the four-year-old child who loves to run around barefoot.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to LaValley Building Supply in Chesterfield, New Hampshire, for their generous discount on the materials needed to build these screens. Community partners like them help us stretch every donated dollar further and serve more families in need.

Over the last several days, we have been blessed by the generosity of our community. Together, we have raised $1,650 toward the cleanup effort and the removal of approximately 10 tons of trash from the property.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to our recent donors: Lori Pigeon Dalton , Wayne Orr, Inga Plisza, Denise Evans , and Jacki Pinger,

While we have made significant progress, we are still facing a deficit of approximately $1,400 to cover the remaining project costs.

If you are able to volunteer your time and help with the cleanup efforts, we would love to hear from you. If you are unable to volunteer physically but feel led to support this mission, a financial contribution of any amount would be a tremendous blessing and would help us continue carrying out the work that God has placed before us.

As Galatians 6:2 reminds us, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Thank you for standing alongside The Humble Servants as we serve this family and help create a safe place for their children to call home.

With gratitude,
The Humble Servants ❤️🙏

Over the last couple of days, we have made tremendous progress at a property in Newfane, Vermont. Through the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, we have officially removed 10 tons of solid waste from the property.

While this is a significant milestone, our work is not yet complete. There is still much to be done as we continue working to provide a safer, healthier environment where four children can grow, thrive, and look forward to a brighter future.

This effort has come at a substantial cost. Between fuel expenses and disposal fees at Casella Waste Management in Brattleboro ($250 per ton), The Humble Servants has invested approximately $3,000 into this cleanup project thus far. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors who make this work possible, especially Jacki Pinger,, Lori Pigeon Dalton and Denise Evans. Because of you we were able to raise $1,500 within just two days to help offset the cost of this project.Your generosity enables our mission to continue to serve the most vulnerable.

We will be continuing this effort on Sunday and invite anyone interested in serving alongside us to join our volunteer crew. Lunch will be provided at 12:00 PM at the Brattleboro Church of Christ, and we will depart for the property at 12:30 PM, arriving around 1:00 PM.
(Those who would like to are also welcome to join us for Bible study at 9:30 AM and worship service at 10:30 AM before lunch. Participation in Bible study or worship is not required to volunteer, and we warmly welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds to serve alongside us.)

We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers who have worked tirelessly on this project: Mitchell Green, Dora Green, Leslie Green, Joseph Boggio, Denise Evans, Carolyn Hall and Andy with his amazing tractor!. Their dedication, compassion, and willingness to serve have been instrumental in the progress we have made.

Ten tons of waste removed represents more than a cleanup effort—it represents hope, safety, dignity, and a fresh start for four children. We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, donor, supporter, and prayer partner who have made this work possible.

Together, we are changing lives, one act of service at a time.🫶🏻

❤️ HELP US HELP A FAMILY IN CRISIS ❤️

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

This verse is the foundation of everything we do at The Humble Servants.

Recently, we were contacted by a local family who found themselves in an overwhelming situation. When they moved into their home, the previous tenant left behind an enormous amount of trash and debris. Faced with tons of waste, mounting disposal costs, and no clear path forward, they didn't know where to turn.

This family includes a disabled 9-year-old little girl, three other children, and a disabled Navy veteran who was wounded during his service and continues to struggle with PTSD. They are also walking through a season of grief after experiencing a significant loss.

Our team stepped in to help carry this burden.

So far, we have removed more than FOUR TONS of trash from the property, but we estimate there are still approximately THREE TONS remaining. This project has already cost our ministry over $1,400 in disposal fees and expenses, and the costs continue to grow.

The children have not had a safe outdoor space to enjoy, and this family has been carrying far more than anyone should have to carry alone.

At The Humble Servants, we never charge the families we serve. We rely entirely on the generosity of our community to make these missions possible.

Would you consider making a donation to help us complete this project?

Every gift—large or small—helps us continue serving families in crisis, restoring hope, and sharing the love of Christ through practical acts of service.

It is truly an honor to serve others in Jesus' name and to be His hands and feet in our community.

Thank you for helping us carry one another's burdens.

We are so blessed to have such an incredible team of volunteers! Our vice president Andrew Hall was so kind to donate a power recliner for the gentleman we've been serving. We were able to swap it out today and washed the floor of his kitchen where his old recliner has been since we started this project. It filled our hearts with so much joy to give him this gift today.💙🫶🏻💙

Last week, we took on a project that truly stayed with us.

A concerned daughter reached out about her father, a disabled man, worried he might literally fall through his floor. When we arrived, we found that ongoing incontinence had caused severe damage over time—creating conditions that were incredibly difficult to face.

It was one of the toughest and most unpleasant jobs we’ve ever taken on. But we showed up with compassion, respect, and yes—even smiles—because this is exactly why we exist.

We are The Humble Servants—a Christian nonprofit—and it means everything to us to be able to show God’s love to others in their moments of greatest need. As Galatians 6:2 reminds us, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Today, we finished installing the trim and getting his furniture back exactly where he wanted it. We are truly blown away by the transformation that came from just a few days of very hard work.

And we’re not done yet.

This Wednesday, we have one more special surprise blessing for him—a new reclining chair that is wide, strong, and, most importantly, clean. A small comfort that we hope brings dignity, rest, and peace into his daily life.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to LaValley Building Supply in Chesterfield, NH, for providing an incredible discount on the materials needed to replace the subfloor. Their staff was friendly, helpful, and truly supportive of this mission.

We are equally grateful to Carpet Clearance Warehouse on Emerald Street in Keene, NH, for their generous discount on carpeting tiles. Because of these two businesses, we were able to save hundreds of dollars—making this project possible.

I couldn’t be more proud of this team. In just one year as a 501(c)(3), we are seeing what God can do through willing and servant hearts.

Yesterday marked the beginning of the subfloor replacement project for a disabled gentleman in Brattleboro, after receiving an urgent message from his daughter indicating her father might be at risk of falling through the floor of his mobile home. We're glad to be taking action promptly. Prayers are always welcome.🫶🏻
