Grateful to the The Post and Courier for featuring this important story and giving visibility to not only the project but also the efforts by the volunteers and organizations involved

Unknown graves, faded headstones and a curse. On Daufuskie Island, volunteers and community members work to honor the dead within historic Gullah cemeteries.

Haig Point Foundation Supports New Volunteers In Medicine (VIM) Clinic on Daufuskie Island

In the 4th quarter of 2024, The Haig Point Foundation announced funding a grant supporting the establishment of a Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Clinic on Daufuskie Island. This generous support will help ensure that residents of Daufuskie Island have access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

VIM Clinic provides essential healthcare support to underserved and uninsured individuals and families. This partnership funding the initial start-up costs of the clinic with Volunteers in Medicine exemplifies the Haig Point Foundation’s dedication to supporting community including health and well-being of island residents.

On Wednesday, January 29th, VIM Clinic is hosting an event to register residents and volunteers. It takes place from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Clubhouse at Haig Point. Gate security will be instructed to let in people who are coming to the registration and signs will be posted to direct one to the clubhouse. For more information, please contact Dr. Joan Thomas at [email protected]

On Giving Tuesday, December 3, let's come together to support the Haig Point Foundation. Your generous donation will directly impact Daufuskie Island by supporting specific projects and initiatives, scholarships, island improvements, and hurricane relief.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Every dollar counts. Please consider making a gift today to the HP Foundation here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=GTCL7ZJUJUUHW
