100% of this donation goes toward funding housing for local familes in emergency shelter situations related to abuse. We are currently working with local churches, organizations, for fund matching. October is Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month.

Many women and men experience DV

Here is what Virginia Department of Health reports.

🗣 Virginia’s Domestic and Sexual Violence 2022 Annual Report states there were 56,672 emergency protective orders issued across the state in 2021.

🗣 The same report shows that in 2021, 3,840 adults and 2,461 children received emergency or temporary shelter due to domestic violence in Virginia.

🗣 A Virginia report “Domestic Violence in Virginia” notes that 33.6% of Virginia women and 28.6% of Virginia men report having experienced intimate partner physical violence, r**e, or stalking during their lifetimes.

🗣 In a Virginia domestic violence fatality review, 360,820 instances of serious domestic violence were reported in a year, of which 360,820 involved an intimate partner (i.e. ~1.4 per 1,000).

Legislative Information system reports

👥️ In 2023, 97 deaths in Virginia were attributed to family and intimate partner homicide.

That would be equivalent to a minimum of one person per Virginian county per year.

We have some announcements to make!

A Piece of Me Project is officially an organization dedicated to awareness and education!

We have had multiple localities request assistance with their own gallery dedicated for this purpose, in addition to upcoming jobs for ther**eutic art! How exciting to start this project with our local communities assistance and encouragement.

We continue to gathering donations, and have more plans in the very near future!

A Piece of Me Project is with RAPHA Mountain Essentials @ Mount Rogers Community Services Five Bridges Resource event!

It was awesome to see our community come together to share resources!

We will be present at this event to share resources and fun! Come join us. :)

It’s almost time for one of our favorite days of the year. The 5 Bridges Wellness Fair at Hungry Mother State Park is set for June 20th!

Activities for all ages, live music, community resources, and food trucks make this a fun day for the whole family.

And the best part? It’s totally free! Including free meals at the food trucks!

We’ll see you then!
