🖤🐾 It’s National Black Dog Day! 🐾🖤 Today we’re celebrating two of our very own who are ready to find their forever homes. Meet Hopper & Bonnie!

🐾 Hopper is a 2-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua with lots of love to give.

🐾 Bonnie is a 9-year-old miniature poodle mix with hair as silky as they come.

Both of these sweet pups love dogs, love people, are potty trained, and are ready to head home! 🏡

Help us celebrate National Black Dog Day by sharing Hopper and Bonnie and helping them find their people. 🖤

When an animal ends up at a shelter, we don’t always know the full story behind how they got there. Merlin is a colony cat with severe dental disease and an abscess in his mouth. He needs a full-mouth extraction, scheduled for Friday. Merlin wasn’t his caretaker’s cat - he was part of a colony in her community that she graciously took responsibility for. She loved him and got him help when his needs became more than she could afford. We’ve been in touch to let her know he is safe and we’re happy to help. ❤️ Animal welfare is deeply connected to human welfare. We will not tolerate negative comments about Merlin’s caretaker. Keyboard warriors, this is not the post for you.
Thank you to our shelter partners who give animals like Merlin a chance. Please consider donating toward his care https://www.venmo.com/u/longleafanimalrescue

One year of Longleaf. 224 animals saved. And today, four of our current dogs were in surgery. That’s what year two already looks like: animals who need care, people willing to give them a chance, and vet bills we can only cover with your help. If you’re celebrating our first birthday with us, please make a donation to help us start year two strong. Every gift helps us say yes to the next animal who needs us. 🐾 Donate at www.longleafanimalrescue.org. Thank you for making this first year possible. 💚
