COPIED FROM SARAH BARNEY:
Rescues cannot keep up much longer. As we know we are deep into a crises that we cannot even begin to dig ourselves out of. We have so many people to thank for the failing system. Starting with the backyard and irresponsible breeders. Law enforcement and lack there of. Prosecutors for their weak stance on punishment, judges for their lack of empathy and accountability.
Look at your cities and counties. Do they have a working animal control? Anyone. Majority of the cities here have no one. So the problem is completely out of control there until it starts becoming an issue. Then you have the law stating just to shoot them. And they are good at doing that. Out of sight out of mind. They donât start getting pi**ed until the problem is at their front door.
Make your cities and county accountable. Iâm am so tired of hearing, â we donât have any ordinances or anywhere to take them if we did.â Hold your officials accountable and stop running to fb to bitch about it. Show up, you be accountable, you push for change.
We thought we could spay and neuter our way out of this problem. We cannot. There are slim to no resources or not enough of the poor rural areas that need it the most. The small poor communities, the spay and neuter clinics and vans jumping to a lot of places, just not ours. You can count on your hand the amount of rescuers that are truly making a difference. I am not talking about warehousing. Thatâs hoarding and not helping anyone. When it reaches that point then everyone scrambles to bail that one person out while the other wait on hold.
Even if we mass euthanized in every shelter multiple times, it wouldnât make a dent.
Even one animal having an âaccidentalâ litter can pump hundreds if not thousands into this world eventually.
Rescues bailing out breeders is a controversial topic, but we notice it. I get they need saving too, but this enables the breeders to keep on pumping them out. When is enough enough? Sadly we have to tell the ones roaming the streets who donât ask to be born to sit back and pray that someone will give you a chance. While we run to save a breeder every damn time. I get it supply and demand, but this is being enabled as well. Then it branches off into what seems like retail rescue.
Itâs a pointless rant, but watching the world crumble around us is truly disgusting that this is supposed to be ânormal.â Your dog or cat doesnât need another litter. If you want your child to witness the miracle of life, take them into a shelter on euthanasia day. They might get the point. And yes, my children have been with me when we have held animals take their last breathe. That is the letting them experience what happens when people arenât accountable for their actions.
Have the day you deserve.
