Over the last couple of months, we have noticed something happening more and more at serious and tragic scenes and it needs to stop.

People are driving through these scenes while passengers hold up their phones, recording what is happening, and then posting those videos on social media.

It may not be illegal for a passenger to record, but that doesn’t make it right.

That person lying alongside the road, inside that vehicle, in a field, in a driveway, or being cared for by first responders is not content.

They are someone’s husband or wife. Dad or mom. Grandpa or grandma. Son or daughter. Brother, sister or friend.

Our first responders take great pride in providing the best care we possibly can while treating victims and their families with dignity, respect and compassion during some of the worst moments of their lives.

Now imagine being in my shoes.

Imagine walking up to a front door knowing that when it opens, you have to tell a husband, wife, parent or child that someone they love is never coming home.

Then imagine that family opening social media and seeing a video of the scene or worse, seeing their loved one recorded by someone driving by.

Plain and simple, stop.

Put the phone down. Give our responders room to work. Give the victim some dignity. Give their family the opportunity to hear the news from us not discover or see their loved ones tragedy on social media.

Before you hit record, remember:

THAT IS NOT A SCENE and THAT IS A PERSON.

Please show them the same compassion you would want shown to your own family if that was you.

This fundraiser has been in the works for awhile and they are going ahead with it tomorrow as they work through the devastating loss of one of their members. They deserve a great outpouring of support.

Today, we are incredibly proud to have FOUR veterans from the Highland community aboard the Badger Honor Flight — Zeke, Willie, Tom, and Glenn!

Four of our own, surrounded by fellow veterans, making a well-deserved trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice.

For a small community like Highland to have four veterans on the same Honor Flight is pretty special. ❤️🤍💙

Zeke, Willie, Tom, and Glenn — today is YOUR day. We hope you soak in every moment, every handshake, every story shared, and every reminder of just how much your service means to all of us back home.

We are so proud to call you our neighbors, friends, and veterans.

We can’t wait to see all of the trick-or-treaters spooking around town! We hope you will join us in this village tradition of families joining in on the fun on Sunday afternoon.

There will be NO gathering/treats/games at the Historical Society this year!

Date Options:
➡️Sunday, October 25

➡️Sunday, November 1

⁉️Other events that may influence your decision:

🎃Haunted Hayride Dates: 10/23,24; 10/30,31 (sorry I should have included those in original post)
🏈10/25: Packers play at 3:25
🏈11/01: No Packer Game
📚11/02: No School (Monday)

Other questions:
➡️Do you want to continue having costume judging and treats prior to Trick-or-Treating? The last 2 years we have had dwindling attendance making it appear that this is not as high priority as it has been in the past.
➡️Times for trick or treating: well, that would be dependent on the above.
Historically, 2 -5 pm has been trick-or-treating….but open for other starting times. 😉
