Another big impact day at the park! Well done to all who came along to help, including the fantastic teens who were our first turn ups to help with the litter pick! 🙌 We removed the large stand of willow herb and prickly brambles that have slowly encroached along the edge of the play area. Now that has been cleared, you can see what's underneath and it has revealed a possible play space to expand into! From the woods we filled three black bags of rubbish and a load of broken glass. Slowly the woodlands are starting to feel like an asset and a natural place in the centre of the village for all to enjoy! You can access these local woods from the park (entrance at the top road/B9006) or via the informal path that is emerging next to the suds pond at the Scotia side. 😀🌿🤘

What are you doing Saturday afternoon? Could you spare some time to pop down to the play park and woods next to the school and lend a hand? Some of the PARC team will be there clearing and tidying the areas for the summer holidays. Any time you can offer is very welcome, folks, even just 10mins 💪 Many hands make light work! 🌿🪏🤘👍

We hope you're all enjoying the good weather! We've been busy behind the scenes at PARC hq, we had a great walk round the village last week with the local Community Development Officer from Highland Council. We discussed play areas and talked over the access challenges with the park at the school and lack of provision in Scotia. Brilliant effort today from a small but mighty army of volunteers! Thank you to all who gave up their time and braved the wind, rain and driving sleet at one point! We made a huge impact and collectively cleared about 10 black bags of rubbish. We removed stabby overgrown brambles and anti-social holly as well as the invasive laurel spreading across the woodland floor. The place is much cleaner, clearer and safer now with so much broken glass removed. Removing the toxic laurel will help the native woodland to regenerate and allow biodiversity to thrive again. Let's see what appears as spring arrives🌱🌼 Lots of inspiring ideas also discussed for how to improve play and recreation in the village for all. Watch this space for how you can get involved and help plot out what we do next!
Why not take a walk down and around the woodland? It's already a much more welcoming community space! 🙌🏻🌳🌲🌿🍃🪾

Spring Clean day tomorrow! Did a recce earlier and there's a lot of litter, plastic and some broken glass. We've got gloves, litter pickers and bin bags from the Council so all set for tomorrow. Any time you can spare would be fantastic folks. The woodland has so much potential to be a lovely community space. Just needs kept clear and clean! Come and check it out tomorrow. Any time 10-2!
