LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!!
HELP US CHOOSE YALIK’S NEXT FILM! 🎬
We’re getting ready to take another piece of our history from the archives to the screen—and this time, we want the community to help choose the story!
Yalik’s African American Art & Cultural Movement is preparing to apply for a film grant, and we have three powerful stories we’re considering for our next film project:
1️⃣ Black Panther Shootout in High Point
A powerful chapter of local Black history centered on resistance, activism, conflict, and a community that refused to be silent.
2️⃣ Oakwood Cemetery — Through the Eyes of Young Amy Wise
A journey into the lives and legacies of some of High Point’s earliest Black residents buried at Oakwood Cemetery, with their stories unfolding through the eyes of young Amy Wise.
3️⃣ The History of Black Music in High Point, NC
From the church to the community and beyond, this film would explore the voices, musicians, traditions, and cultural influences that helped shape High Point’s Black musical legacy. 🎶
Now comes the fun part — YOU GET A VOTE!
Which story would you most like to see Yalik’s bring to life on film?
👇🏾 COMMENT 1, 2, OR 3 BELOW!
And tell us why that story speaks to you. We’d love to hear your memories, connections, and thoughts.
Your feedback could actually help determine which film we produce next.
This is what Yalik’s means when we say “The Art of Discovery in Music, History and Culture.” We’re not simply preserving history—we’re finding new ways to tell it, share it, and pass it forward.
🎥 Three stories. One community. Which one should we tell?
