Over the past several weeks, a group of residents from Independent Living at Schowalter Villa, enjoyed a special "Around the Town" series, visiting five community organizations and learning more about the people, programs, and services that make Hesston such a vibrant place to call home.

Participants toured:
🏫 USD 460
📚 Hesston Public Library
🚒 Hesston Fire/EMS
🎓 Hesston College
🌳 Dyck Arboretum

Each visit provided a unique opportunity to learn, ask questions, and discover the many resources and experiences available right here in our community.

Schowalter Villa Partners organized this event and Hesston Community Foundation was pleased to partner with them on this initiative and provide a snack break for participants along the way.

Thank you to our host organizations for opening your doors and sharing what you do to enrich our community. Building connections and lifelong learning opportunities is one more way we strengthen the place we all call home! 🖤❤

As his Eagle Scout Project, Tim van Bergeijk, constructed a park bench in memory of Ken Schwanke. The bench is at King Memorial Park in Hesston. Tim chose to remember Ken in this way because he was such a hard worker and demanded nothing in return. Tim stated that "this was a perfect way to keep the legacy he built alive". Hesston Community Foundation provided a grant to Tim for this project!
