How are you preserving your essence?

Today, we are witnessing a shift in ownership, influence, and control - and conversations around the Essence Festival have led me to ask deeper questions:

Where is culture, creativity, and community being leveraged in ways that don’t return to the people who built it?

From New Orleans to the countries abroad, questions are being raised about:

• who benefits from cultural platforms,
• how public resources are used,
• and whether the communities at the center are truly being supported.

This is beyond a “Black American vs African” conversation.
This is beyond the Essence Festival.

This is about awareness.

Because when your legacy is disconnected from your lineage…from its origin & people are no longer sustained by what they built…

The essence is lost!

And that’s where this conversation meets something deeper.

The only blueprint to being divine is the one you were born with. It isn't imitated by how others live. It's not a hot trend. It isn't found in another person/group.
