Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide sanctuary or placement to neglected, abused, abandoned & at risk animals.

Today marks one month since sweet Olivia lost her best friend, and lifelong work mate, Ella.

She has been doing fairly well considering her immense loss, but is still facing her own health struggles from a long hard life.

Olivia is totally blind, is struggling with ulcers, dsld, and edema. We are doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and treat the issues at hand. Despite all she faces, her spirits have remained in tact.

She has made friends with Armani and they hang out on the fence line with each other visiting daily. For that I am grateful.

We continue to give her extra love and care each day, and we pray that this round of ulcer meds will heal her stomach so she can get back to eating normally.

We ask you to send prayers for this sweet, sweet girl that she may heal and have many more happy days ahead of her.

🐴 CALLING ALL SUPPORTERS — IT’S $10 TUESDAY!

Our hay delivery is coming TODAY, and we’re asking our amazing supporters to help us cover the cost of feeding our senior sanctuary residents. ❤️

This $1928 is just our hay bill - for 6weeks of hay. It doesn’t include grain, supplements, medications, farrier care, veterinary expenses, or all of the other costs that come with providing lifelong sanctuary.

If every one of our supporters who is able to contribute gave just $10 today, we could cover HALF of this hay delivery. Every $10 truly makes a difference.

One of the biggest misconceptions about rescue is that the work ends when an animal is saved. The rescue is only the beginning.

People are often willing to donate to help save one, but it takes an ongoing community of supporters to help us keep that animal safe, healthy, comfortable, and loved for the rest of their life. That is where the true cost — and the true work — of sanctuary begins.

Good morning from the girl gang. 💕

Miss Athena (far right) and Peanut Butter little lil in the middle 😂 are searching for their forever families. Minnie - far right is my personal OG of over 10 years and "house mom" to all our incoming rescues, so she is not available for adoption. 😉

Both Athena and Peanut Butter are extremely smart and loving.

Athena is approx 3 years old - white boxer mix. Good with other dogs. Protector of the home. Rides like u dont even know she's with you in the car. Great on a leash and out and about. Professional ball fetcher. No cats pls. She is spayed, trained, and UTD on her shots. (Video on 1st comment below in original post)

Peanut Butter is a doll of a little girl. She was born "special" with her hips not forming right so she has the cutest seal walk ever - no pain and gets around just like everyone else. She belly crawls when she gets excited. Has acclimated well with patience and learning to trust with the pack. Also no cats! This lil lady is just turning 2 and is spayed, trained, and UTD on her shots. She also loves car rides, going out into public, but her most favorite thing is simply cuddling up with her person.

Some of the biggest hearts belong to the gentlest souls. 🤎🐴

Meet Armani, our gentle giant and the largest resident here at Safe Hands Sanctuary, standing a massive 18.2 hands tall!

In his 20s, Armani is an ex-Amish workhorse who spent much of his life working hard and experiencing rough handling. Understandably, he's still a little skittish around people and prefers to keep his distance. He's our shy boy, the one who takes a little extra patience, a little more understanding, and a whole lot of love to reach.

But when he lets his guard down, those moments are incredibly special. ❤️

These photos capture a little of who I am, the work we do, and the beautiful connections we build with the horses who call Safe Hands home. That hug with Armani? That's what it's all about. No expectations, no pressure, just trust, compassion, and love.

At Safe Hands Sanctuary, we believe every horse deserves to spend their golden years feeling safe, valued, and loved, regardless of their past. Armani may be a giant in stature, but it's his gentle spirit that makes him so incredibly special to us.

Safe Hands Sanctuary is looking for a special person to join our team and help us care for our big draft horse residents!

We’re looking for someone to help clean pastures Friday–Monday, with flexible hours. Horse experience is a plus, but what matters most is reliability, a good work ethic, and being comfortable with some physical outdoor work.

If you’d love the opportunity to spend time around our rescue horses while helping us maintain the high standard of care they deserve, we’d love to hear from you! 🐴❤️

From kill pen to big puppy. Talon is making huge strides in his progress here with us at Safe Hands Sanctuary.

When Talon arrived just over a year ago he was completely defeated. At just 2 1/2 - 3 years old, he had endured more abuse than any animal should ever see in their lifetime. He was untouchable. He snorted and ran at the sight of people.

2 weeks passed of me sitting on the ground next to his hay net for 2 - 3 hours per day before he finally reached out and made contact with me.

Today, Talon is thriving, and though he will never be adoptable due to a neurological condition called stringhalt that affects his hind gate, he will only know what he should have always experienced - and that is unconditional love, and the best care and supportive nutrition we can provide him.

This is what we do here at Safe Hands Sanctuary. We provide a home for the disgarded - the ones with special needs, the ones nobody wanted, and the seniors who had nowhere to call home, but now always will. 🥰

We have sourced with Sonoita Feed.

ISO: 3 String Bales of Teff Hay. We are in Hereford, but are willing to drive or take a large order delivery.

Please send us a message if you know of anywhere within a couple hours from us that has Teff in stock. All our local feed stores are out, and we have seniors depending on it.

Miss little Peanut Butter is looking for her forever family. She is such a great little girl. She is extremely smart, loves learning, loves doing the right thing, has excellent recall, loves to cuddle, and will play by herself with her toy for hours. She is not your typical year and a half year old. She prefers chilling and cuddling over crazy time. 🤪

Peanut butter is also house broken, crate trained, and walks great on a leash. She is fully vaccinated and spayed.

Peanut butter is dog selective - She does wonderful with our ranch dog, our oldest Minnie, and our big boy Bruce, but has not done well with our other female up for adoption. Peanut butter cannot be placed in a home with cats or small children at this time. She is cat reactive. 😾

If you have the love in your heart and a little space in your home for a sweet angel, please reach out.

Sadly, due to her and one of our other recues not getting along, we are having to rotate them in the house, which is placing both of them in their crates more than we want them to be. For this reason, we need to get little Peanut butter placed to a loving foster or her forever home ASAP!

Please understand. If you contact us, and are rude to us in your communication, you will be banned from our page. There is zero reason to be crass when communicating. We do not want that energy around us, or our animals. We will not stand for it. We strive for transparency and to find our rescued animals loving, caring homes. If you cant be a decent human being on your initial contact with us, we definitely dont want any of our animals being placed with you! Dont be a Karen... or in this instance, a Maryann. We dont care how long you have been "rescuing" - that doesn't entitle you to be rude. G'day ma'am. Please take your energy elsewhere.
