We've been too long away from our Facebook Friends! All is well and we are growing! We have begun working at Ancla Eterna, near San Quintin, Baja California. Home to special needs children, Julio is headed there this Friday to begin laying out and building their hoop...and helping set up the raised beds needed for the kids in wheelchairs. Stay tuned for pictures! At the same time, the children and gardens are flourishing at Milagros and Luz Encendida!

Today is a special day for Rancho El Milagro. The wife of the governor of the state, the mayor elect of Tecate, the state coordinator of DIF (Protective Services) and other dignitaries and friends will be coming to a ceremony there. They will be only the 5th group home in the state of Baja California to receive their license to operate under the new laws of the state. Fifth out of 132 homes!

Baja California has begun enforcing a host of new regulations, for example all buildings must meet international and Mexican building codes in addition to expansion of services to the children. Every group home must have a licensed psychologist working with the children too. That and more have taken great time and expense to get into place...but Rancho El Milagro has done it and today they get their license. We have been invited to the party and will be joining them all at noon.

The team from College Baptist Church worked hard! The brick pathway is finished and 3 navel orange trees have been planted in loving memory of their dear Pastor Jason Mekelburg. Today we all go to visit the Tecate market, grab some donuts, then head to the beach at Rosarito to immerse ourselves in the Mexican culture. Think Coney Island on a busy Saturday but with Mariachi music instead of Montavani.

With the fire behind us, now we can take our "new" 2006 pick up truck in to get the transmission shifter cable installed, confirm the hotel arrangements for the team, grab breakfast, get our friend Cesar and go to Tijuana to check out the Migrants House prior to taking the group there later this week, go north and pick up a few supplies (more water too), then gather up the team tonight at the San Diego Airport, swing through In-N-Out burgers to top off their tummies, and run for the border...hopefully getting here before 11 when this crossing closes. Just another day in the life of your missionaries...while our man, Julio, is getting the team project lined out at Milagro de Dios (new name for Rancho Milagro).

The Potrero Fire did not jump the fence and all is safe here in Tecate. Smokey, so we think it is still burning, but tranquility has returned to our happy Mexico home. This area had a 90,000 acre fire in 2007 so a lot of the fuel was burned then making this one a bit less frightening, if that is possible. Pray for our team from Michigan who arrive tonight. It's going to be 108 F here today! Yes...we have lots of bottles of water ready for them!
