TimberKnolls Spirit Cove is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was started in North Carolina in 2018. Our mission is to spread hope and healing to people overcoming illness and trauma through animal therapy,

primarily with giant Newfoundland dogs. We are building a therapy ranch in Hendersonville, NC, that is expected to open in the Spring of 2025. We have more than 50 actively working, registered volunteer animal therapy teams nationwide, with a large concentration of volunteers in the Southeast. We focus on supporting community heroes and front-line workers who support, serve, protect, and nurture our society, including veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, educators, and other essential workers. Our teams work within their communities as they are needed. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases from products we recommend on our website or social media.

ABRAHAM UPDATE ❤️

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported Abraham's recovery journey.

Because of your generosity, prayers, shares, and encouragement, we've already raised over $1,500 toward his care.

Yesterday Abraham underwent a three-hour skin graft surgery. The incredible news is that his doctors have now saved both his life and his leg. The next critical step is making sure the graft takes successfully and that healing continues without complications.

We still have a long road ahead with specialty appointments, wound care, cast changes, medications, and ongoing recovery, but today we are feeling something we weren't sure we'd have a week ago: hope.

Thank you for helping us fight for this amazing boy who has spent so many years helping others.

Please continue to keep Abraham in your thoughts as he begins the next stage of healing.

Spirit Cove’s beloved Abraham needs our community.

I’m asking for help for Abraham.

For 7 years, Abraham has been my service dog, a certified therapy dog, a certified crisis response dog, and the heart of Spirit Cove. He has comforted first responders, firefighters, EMTs, healthcare workers, children, seniors, veterans, trauma survivors, and communities recovering from Hurricane Helene.

Now he is the one fighting to heal.

After what veterinarians believe was a venomous snake bite, Abraham developed devastating tissue damage in his hind leg. He has been through ICU care, multiple surgeries, advanced wound care, and a three-hour skin graft surgery.

The amazing news is that his doctors have saved both his life and his leg.

But his recovery is still complex and expensive. He will need weeks of wound checks, cast care, medications, specialty follow-ups, and careful monitoring to make sure the graft takes and the necrotic tissue does not return.

I have done everything I can personally to save him, and now I need to ask our community to help us continue his care.

Please donate if you can, and please share.

Even healers sometimes need saving too.

Today, as the world wakes beneath the quiet colors of Memorial Day, may we pause with grateful hearts for the brave souls who gave everything so we could know peace, freedom, and the simple beauty of another sunrise. May their courage never be forgotten, their sacrifice never be taken lightly, and their memory live on in every flag, every prayer, every tear, and every grateful breath we take.

Abraham Update; thank you to everyone who has sent their prayers, love, kindness, compassion and support this past week. Abraham is a fighter, but even the surgeons are amazed at his bloodwork and how he manages to stand or walk, hold his head up and share affection when the wound on his leg is so horrific. He had his third procedure today and the surgeon let him come home for the weekend. He’s all wrapped up and will be heavily medicated but he’ll be with us 24/7 if he can remain stable. Monday he’ll check back into the hospital for a 4th procedure and remain for 3-4 days. We are learning more than we ever wanted to about the impact of venomous snake bites, but I believe we have to take painful experiences and find a way to turn them into good. So when things stabilize we’ll be hosting a webinar to educate other dog owners about venomous snake awareness, protection and treatment. Abraham stepped into Chewies role as my service dog when Chewie passed away, supporting me with the side effects from my second brain tumor. He’s been a working therapy dog for 7 years and a crisis response dog. He’s helped non verbal children and adults say their first words, dying parents say goodbye to their children, comforted traumatized first responders after they’ve seen things no human should ever see. He’s given love to people who felt unloveable and helped people in their darkest hours, find light.

I’ve been asked if we’ll be taking donations to help with Abraham’s treatment, and I’m grateful for the question. We will launch a campaign by this weekend for anyone who feels they can donate even a few dollars to help. Your prayers, warm wishes and supportive words lift my heart more than anything you could ever imagine.. I don’t believe he’d have survived this week without you, thank you all.

It has been a terrifying few days for Spirit Cove and all who love of special therapy dog and certified crisis responses dog, Abraham. After helping to heal and comfort thousands of lives it was time to sit back and let others come to his rescue. He’s been in a fight for his life since Saturday night when his leg stopped working and it exploded with blood. By the time we arrived at an emergency vet he was barely breathing and running a temp of 105.4.. we were told that he was most likely bit by a pit viper (rattle or copper) and his chance of survival was low. His leg was necrotic… we were also prepared for an amputation. Today he had his second surgery and he’ll have a third Thursday… we have hope, thanks to a brilliant team who recognized that his time wasn’t up and that he was worth fighting for.
