The Place of Purpose

The Place of Purpose We are a nonprofit formed to provide individuals with disabilities, a place of purpose. And mostly to help those adults to "Find their purpose in life"

Our goal is to provide shared housing where their needs, their meals, their stories, their lives can be shared with others. We are a new non profit dedicated to providing a home for those adults with FA to live together and share in the cost of housing, caregiving, and transportation along with sharing theirs lives and experiences that go along with Friedreich's Ataxia.

We have entered the period of time, where the 1:36 kids with Autism - specifically profound Autism, are entering Adulthood. Society and the social services system is grossly underprepared for this Tsunami that has started.

The professionals and Autism Industrial Complex that was built due to the millions diagnosed, have done a very weak job preparing, families, society, employers, and the community.

This crisis is coming and watching it unfold with no action is not something I will stand by and watch.

Please follow for more details of what we are working on for housing adults and creating a Place of Purpose Community and Worshop, so that all our adults will have the opportunity to live as dignified and independent as possible.

This is Scott. He has Friedreich’s Ataxia. He is 43 years old. He enjoys talking with people, politics, stocks and managing money. He goal is to open a business where people with disabilities can work and contribute to their local community. He has met several new people and leaned a lot by joining the local Rotary club. The Place of Purpose is a concept that Scott has been working on with others. The vision is building a lasting living community with goals, adventures, growth, and friendships.

I am Suzie and this is my son Will who turns 18 this month and has autism. When raising a special needs child, adulthood is scary. I have for many years known God wants me to be more than just a parent of a special needs kiddo. And I have dreamt of a farm that would teach job skills and has opportunities for family with special needs. Place of purpose has given me hope in that dream coming true and the reality of my son be able to live independently.

Who We Are Wednesday!

This is Franklin and Jackson! They are 16 and 18 with Autism and have kept me busy every single day. Our lives are an adventure, and as we change seasons into adulthood, we are looking to help place of purpose build a wonderful place for the boys to reside after we are not there to assist them.
