Friends in the Desert Foundation

Friends in the Desert Foundation Timothy’s Episcopal Church located in downtown Henderson. We try to serve “the least of these, our brothers” with a dignity that they otherwise don’t see.

The Friends in the Desert Foundation is a charitable organization which serves hot meals to homeless or otherwise needy individuals six days a week in the kitchen and parish hall of St. We provide seated meals for an average of 72 persons a day, 6 days per week. We also provide food for those days we are “dark” in the kitchen. In addition to a growing number of meaningful programs, when supplies a

re available, Friends in the Desert also provides basic toiletry items, socks, access to a visiting nurse, referrals, bus transportation, plus other needed resources such as safe dwelling options, health care, dental and other services. Unlike many other meal programs, we do not require an ID for participation in our programs. All in need are welcome. In the fourth quarter of 2010 alone, 36 different congregations or groups prepared and served a total of 5,466 hot meals over 78 days. Also during the 4th quarter of 2010, 939 sack lunches were served.

I am always so grateful for everyone’s help . It really takes all of us to care for this small town of Henderson . What blessing the Lord has given us to show His Love to those He sends our way .
Thank you , thank all of you who are on this page , who help in many different ways . Thank you for your prayers .

Our need this week is still men’s tee shirts . The size we need most is large and ex large . We also need men’s razors and your summer vacation toiletries . Those small bottles in your hotel room is the best . We are running low on small lotions and  washcloths.

We are always blessed with an amazing meal at Friends In The Desert . Everyday is like Sunday Supper. Our newest church, Calvery Chapel Green Valley provides a different small group twice a month to come in and love on our friends that come to dine with us. Not only do they feed their bellies but they feed their souls too. We have a small worship service before
we get started with dinner . Today was very special . Mark Van Horn shared some scripture and then a prayer for salvation and I’ve never heard so many join in to ask the Lord to be apart of their life .
Brad Wise , his wife and his amazing team “ The BBQ Ministry Team “ blessed us today with a meal made of Love . Brad smoked Pork Butt over night that was incredible. Homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw , the Pulled pork was served on Garlic Texas Toast and topped with pickles and pickled red onions . Plus dessert . We could not be more loved here at St Timothys . Thank you Calvery Chapel Green Valley , thank you Brad Wise and your BBQ Ministry Team for all the work that went into this amazing dinner . We are truly blessed to love God’s children . Thank you everyone for all you do to help care for those in need in the downtown Henderson area.

Thank you everyone for helping me with Buck . Some of you have ask if you can help with getting Buck cremated. Simply  cremation has helped us get the price down to $1400. If any one would like to help us we would be very grateful . Also I would like to invite each of you to PLEASE come to his funeral at St Timothy’s  Episcopal church on March 21 st at 1:00 pm . I would love to have you all there . If you have any question please contact me Teresa at 702-610-6030 . Thank you for all you did to give Buck a home for serval months before he passed . ❤️🙏
