The Evolution of AIWCF
The concept of this Festival was birthed in 2020 as a Juneteenth Block Party which grew into the Juneteenth Charlotte Celebration held in Charlotte, NC. The mission has always been to honor and celebrate the past, present, and future journey and contributions of "African Americans." As this event continued to grow (along with Juneteenth becoming trademarked) we grew in our understanding and importance of recognizing the VARIETY of culture that exists within the African Diaspora.
We also saw the need for this event to be rebranded and held at a location owned by African/Indigenous people that welcomed an authentic expression of the many cultures and components that exist in our communities worldwide. While we do recognize the impact of 400+ years of captivity and discrimination, it's also important to remember that our journey has had more years of freedom, abundance, and liberation.
Let us never forget.
The AIWCF was birthed with the purpose of creating a safe space for community of like mind and spirit to learn, connect, and basque in the arts, entertainment, and culture. We aim to inspire ALL generations to recognize and appreciate their own greatness and offer tools, education, and resources for personal development, unity, and economic growth.
Proceeds of this festival helps to support the associated ministries and community members who are creating positive change in the world through outreach, community projects, and efforts for the advancement of economic well-being.
We thank you in advance for your participation and support. We look forward to meeting you!!!
Thank You,
