🐾 K9 Barry Gets a Vest! 🐾

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news—K9 Barry, the newest member of the Hemet Police Department K9 Unit, will soon be suited up in his very own bulletproof vest!

A huge shoutout goes to the friends of Officer Vera, who took the initiative to organize a fundraiser for K9 Barry’s vest. When they first approached Officer Vera with the idea, none of us could have imagined how quickly the campaign would take off. It went viral across social media, and thanks to the incredible generosity of the community, the fundraising goal was met in record time!

All donations will be transferred to the Hemet Police Department K9 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The vest will be purchased on behalf of all the amazing donors who stepped up to support K9 Barry and his mission to keep our city safe.

Most people don’t realize that K9 units are largely supported through community fundraising and private donations. That’s why our Foundation exists—to raise and manage funds that support the Hemet Police Department K9 Unit. We work closely with the department and the handlers to ensure every dollar goes toward enhancing the safety and effectiveness of the team and the community they protect.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. K9 Barry is ready to serve—vested and protected—thanks to YOU! 🐶💙

✨✨✨THANK YOU, HEMET! ✨✨✨

We want to extend a heartfelt ❤️ thank you to everyone who came out to support the Hemet Police Department K-9 Fundraiser 🐾 on June 7th at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 🦅 #4055!

It was an incredible night that took us straight back to the 80s—complete with leg warmers, big hair, and even bigger hearts.

Special thanks to Officer Maynard and K-9 Kitti for their special appearance and demonstration, to the HPD volunteers and other members of the HPD family who attended, and to Sgt. Reynoso for stopping by to show his support. This event was dedicated to raising funds for Hemet Police Department K-9 medical kits (each kit costs $450), which will also include a memorial patch in honor of our beloved K-9 Duke who recently passed away 💔❤️‍🩹

By the end of the night, thanks to the generosity of our amazing community, we raised over $2,500 and received two fully donated K-9 medical kits!

Thank you to the Fraternal Order of Eagles 🦅 #4055 for your continued support of our HPD family. And to Michelle Steffani and her crew for putting this fundraiser together in support of our K-9 heroes 🐾

Please join us for a night of fun 🤩 as we go back to the 80’s on June 7th at 5pm. Pre sale tickets available and highly recommended.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to the HPD K9 Team in memory of K9 Duke (RIP 💙) for K9 Specific Trauma Bags for each handlers vehicle.

Most people do not realize that if a K9 is injured in the line of duty they also need to be treated on scene before being transported to a vet. K9 handlers are trained to help treat injuries to the K9’s prior to transport with the right tools. These Trauma Bags are vital for them to do just that.

This event will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 🦅 in Hemet and is open to the public.
