For nearly 80 years, our community has gathered each spring to host the Helvetia Ramp Supper. Since 1946, volunteers from the Helvetia community, the Helvetia Farm Women, and the Helvetia Hall Association have cleaned, chopped, cooked, and served together to welcome thousands of ramp-seeking guests to our small mountain town.

Over the past several years, we have been in conversation about the future of the supper. The cost of ramps has risen, attendance has changed, and the labor required to prepare the meal has become increasingly difficult for our small community to sustain. Several nearby ramp suppers are also now held on the same day, which has spread visitors and resources thin.

After much reflection and with a mix of gratitude and sadness, we have decided that Helvetia will no longer host our public Helvetia Ramp Supper.

This decision was not made lightly. We have wrestled with it for many years. The supper has been an important part of our history and identity, and we are deeply grateful to the generations of volunteers who made it possible.

Looking ahead, our community plans to support the ramp supper in Pickens, contributing volunteer time to help with their event on April 18th. We hope that by investing our energy there, we can help strengthen their gathering. We also recognize that stepping back from hosting the supper allows our small community—and the ramps themselves—a bit more breathing room. Pun intended.

Thank you to everyone who has attended, volunteered, and supported the Helvetia Ramp Supper over the decades. Some traditions live on not only by continuing, but by being honored for what they were.

Join us for an old-fashioned evening of music, dancing, and sweet fun at the Helvetia Star Band Hall in celebration of the Pickens, West Virginia Maple Syrup Festival.

🍰 Cake Walks: held throughout the evening

Old Fashioned Christmas Market Success✨

Our First Christmas market was an absolute blast! It was nothing but laughter, holiday cheer, and the best kind of organized chaos. 😄🎅

First, a huge THANK YOU to Jill Zurbuch for making this idea come to life. She put in endless hours making this event happen! Jill! You are so appreciated! Also, a big thank you to every single volunteer who showed up with big hearts, busy hands, and holiday spirit to spare. Whether you helped make Grittibanz,decorated,hauled wood, was happy to be a vendor, played their little hearts out for our dance or just showed up ready to help—you made this event magical

We had incredible turnout, tons of fun, and so many little moments that reminded us what community is all about: showing up, helping out, and celebrating together. ❤️

Here’s to the sweetest season, the best volunteers, and a community that knows how to make Christmas sparkle. ✨🎁
