Did you know that, according to the Centers for Disease Control, "Children whose families fall below the federal poverty level are nearly TWICE AS LIKELY to have a visual impairment as children from families whose income is more than 200% of the poverty level?" This is the case for many families living in our communities. And having a visual impairment can lead to kids having a tougher time in school, with friends, and in sports.
