My sweet Cassidy. 💗
Seven years ago today, we lost you.
Seven years ago today, so many lives were changed forever. You did not want to die. You did not want all of us left behind to hurt, to grieve, or to live with this unimaginable sadness. And yet, seven years later, it is still so hard not to be sad.
I remember that day so clearly.
The last time I talked to you.
The last time I heard your laugh.
Leaving the door unlocked and the lights on, waiting for you to come home.
Waking up and realizing you weren’t here.
Then… a knock on the door.
My heart was broken in a way I never knew was possible. The grief was unimaginable.
Since that day, I have tried to move forward one day at a time. I’ve tried to be strong. I’ve tried not to be sad. I talk to you every day. I look for signs from you. I feel you with me, always. I stay busy because sometimes that is the only way to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Then I learned that you died from fentanyl poisoning.
The trial. The questions. The search for answers. Learning everything I could about illicit fentanyl. It consumed me.
I became frightened—not just for our family, but for our community. I was terrified that another family would have to experience the devastating loss that we experienced. That another mother would hear that knock on the door.
So I made it my mission to speak.
To tell your story.
To bring awareness.
To educate.
To hopefully save even one life.
I am so grateful to everyone in our community who has listened to Cassidy’s story, who has supported me, and who has helped me continue this mission. I will keep bringing awareness. I will keep speaking your name.
Because I know that is what you would want.
You cared so deeply about everyone you met. You had a beautiful heart, and your life mattered. Your story matters. And your memory will continue to make a difference.
I will forever miss you, my sweet girl.

Would you know what to do if someone was experiencing an opioid overdose?

In an emergency, every second counts. Knowing how to respond quickly and confidently could save a life.

If you suspect someone is experiencing an opioid overdose:

• Recognize the signs. An overdose may look like someone who won’t wake up, has slow or stopped breathing, pinpoint pupils, or blue or gray lips and fingernails.

• Call 911 immediately. Don’t wait to see if the person improves. Emergency medical care is essential, even if Narcan is administered.

• Administer Narcan (naloxone) if it’s available. Narcan can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, giving the person valuable time until first responders arrive.

• Stay with the person until emergency responders arrive. If they aren’t breathing normally, follow the instructions provided by the 911 dispatcher. If they begin breathing again, place them on their side in the recovery position to help keep their airway clear.

• Be prepared to give a second dose of Narcan if the person does not respond within 2–3 minutes and another dose is available.

The most important thing to remember is this: you don’t have to be a medical professional to save a life. Learning these simple steps before an emergency happens can make all the difference.

Six years of coming together in Cassidy’s memory. ❤️

Our 6th Annual Forever Joy Barn Dance is officially in the books, and what an incredible turnout. We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather or a better group of people to spend the evening with.

To everyone who came out, donated, volunteered, bid in the silent auction, purchased raffle tickets, danced along with the band, or simply showed up to support Forever Joy, thank you! Every single person who played a part in this night helped make it as special as it was.

Seeing so many familiar faces, along with so many new ones, gathered together for a cause that means so much to our family is something we’ll never take for granted. When a community comes together, there truly is so much we can accomplish.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for another beautiful Barn Dance and for continuing to help us carry her memory and Forever Joy’s mission forward.

Join us from 5–9 PM for an evening filled with live music from Free Range Rick and the Slick Chickens, delicious food, raffles, a silent auction, and an incredible community coming together for a meaningful cause.

Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

For Forever Joy, awareness is more than one day on the calendar. It is the reason we continue sharing Cassidy’s story.

Cassidy Joy Metropulos was just 21 years old when she lost her life to fentanyl poisoning in August of 2019. Since then, her mom, Kim, has made it her mission to educate others about the dangers of illicit fentanyl, counterfeit pills, addiction, and the choices that can change a life forever.

One of the most important places we can have these conversations is with our kids.

Kim speaks with middle school and high school students, youth groups, and community organizations, sharing Cassidy’s story and having real conversations about fentanyl, fake pills, addiction, and prevention.

If you are a teacher, administrator, counselor, youth leader, or part of an organization that would like Kim to speak with your students or group, please reach out. We would love to bring this message into more schools and communities.

🩷 Every year, the Barn Dance is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a chance to honor the reason Forever Joy exists.

For those who may be new to our page, Forever Joy was created in memory of Cassidy Joy Metropulos.

In August 2019, Cassidy lost her life to fentanyl poisoning at just 21 years old. She was a daughter, sister, friend, athlete, animal lover, and someone who brought light into the lives of so many around her.

Her story is the reason we do this work.

Today, Forever Joy is dedicated to bringing fentanyl awareness, prevention, and education into schools and communities throughout our region because we believe conversations save lives, and no family should have to experience the loss that inspired this foundation.

When you attend the 6th Annual Barn Dance Fundraiser on Saturday, August 22nd, you’re doing more than enjoying an evening of live music, food, raffles, and community. You’re helping us continue Cassidy’s legacy by supporting education, outreach, and hope for others.

📚 As a new school year begins, the Forever Joy Foundation is once again scheduling school presentations focused on fentanyl awareness, prevention, and education.

Through Cassidy’s story, students gain a better understanding of the dangers of fentanyl, how to recognize the signs of an overdose, and why carrying and knowing how to use Narcan can save a life. These conversations aren’t always easy, but they are incredibly important.

Our goal is to provide honest, age-appropriate education that empowers students, supports educators, and helps keep our communities informed.

If you’re a school administrator, counselor, teacher, or know someone who may be interested in bringing this presentation to your school, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be honored to be part of the conversation.

Together, we can continue raising awareness, educating our communities, and working to prevent tragedies.
