For those who may be new to our page, this is the story behind Forever Joy.

In August of 2019, Cassidy Joy Metropulos passed away at just 21 years old due to fentanyl poisoning. She was a daughter, sister, friend, athlete, animal lover, and someone with a future full of life ahead of her.

What happened to Cassidy changed so many lives forever, but it also became the driving force behind Forever Joy’s mission to bring awareness, education, prevention, and honest conversations surrounding fentanyl and substance abuse into our communities.

This organization exists because families should not have to learn these lessons through tragedy.

Right near one of the most recognizable stadiums in America, authorities recently uncovered a major drug stash operation tied to fentanyl and narcotics trafficking in the Bronx!

Not hidden in some far-off place. Not disconnected from everyday life. Right near homes, businesses, families, and one of the busiest public areas in New York: Yankee Stadium!

Stories like this are a sobering reminder that substance abuse and trafficking don’t exist “somewhere else.” They happen in communities, neighborhoods, and public spaces people pass through every single day — often without realizing it.

Awareness matters. Education matters. Prevention matters.

At Forever Joy, our mission is to continue those conversations, provide resources, and support individuals and families impacted by addiction.

A recent major federal drug trafficking investigation resulted in charges against 11 individuals connected to an international operation involving methamphetamine and GBL — a chemical commonly associated with the production of GHB. Authorities say the operation stretched from South Korea to multiple cities across the United States and began after a fatal overdose investigation in Washington, D.C. More than 5,000 pounds of GBL and 75 pounds of methamphetamine were reportedly seized during the investigation. (Department of Justice)

Stories like this are an important reminder that substance abuse, trafficking, and addiction continue to impact communities everywhere, often in ways many people never see firsthand.

At Forever Joy, our mission is rooted in education, awareness, prevention, and support for individuals and families affected by addiction.

National Prevention Week is May 10–16, and this year’s theme is “A Celebration of Possibility.”

Prevention starts with conversations. Honest ones. Uncomfortable ones. Life-saving ones.

Families, parents, caregivers, coaches, teachers, and trusted adults all play a role in helping young people understand the real dangers surrounding fentanyl, counterfeit pills, and substances purchased or shared online. Many young people do not realize how dangerous one choice can be in today’s world.

Talking about these topics can feel difficult, but silence helps no one.

Start early. Keep talking. Stay connected.

Conversations save lives. 💙

Fentanyl is changing everything about the drug landscape—and not in a way people always see coming. It’s often hidden, mixed into other substances, and it only takes a tiny amount to be deadly.

This video from the DEA breaks it down in a way everyone should understand—parents, friends, and our community as a whole.

Awareness saves lives. Conversations matter. Education matters.
