For one Hawarden woman, she’ll never forget her 63rd birthday. It was the day Terry Shea was evacuated from her home as waters took over parts of town.

It’s been a little over a year since Hawarden residents were in recovery mode, getting moved to higher, drier ground as the waters moved in. Residents living in certain parts of Hawarden were forced to evacuate on Saturday, June 22, 2024, as streets were flooded with water.
