The Hatfield250 is continuing to host some great speakers and events over the course of the next year. This is the next one! It's a FREE community event. Details below:

The public is invited to a special presentation featuring Chief Bluejay on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hatfield Township Administration Building, 1950 School Road, Hatfield, PA 19440, presented by the Hatfield250 Committee
Chief Bluejay will be discussing the past, present, and future of the Lenape People and their culture. She will discuss important places in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. She will also bring cultural items for display.

Chief Bluejay, aka Barbara Michalski, was given the name by her grandfather, Bill Thompson, late Chief Whippoorwill of the Unalachtigo (people near the ocean) Clan which is also referred to as the Turkey Clan. She has been participating in educating the public by attending events or festivals in the Lenapehoking (Homeland of the Lenape). But most of all, Bluejay loves to teach children the history of the Lenape Nation through crafts, storytelling, games and culture items as she visits numerous area schools and children’s groups, such as the schools, scouting and children camps. Bluejay has also been involved in environmental issues, particularly working for clean water and protecting our Earth Mother. She attends Lenape Language class in Unami Dialect weekly to help keep endangered languages alive.

This community program offers an opportunity to learn more about the Lenape People, their continuing culture, and the history of the lands that include present-day Bucks and Montgomery Counties. This is a free event for the community.
