One of the most meaningful moments of our Legacy Banquet was recognizing our Legacy Teachers. These educators are selected by our top 5 students who are graduating for the lasting impact they made on their educational journey.

These outstanding teachers have encouraged, inspired, and supported their students in ways that reach far beyond the classroom. Their dedication helped shape confidence, character, and dreams for the future.

This year’s Legacy Teacher honorees were:

As we push into a new year, we want to take a moment to reintroduce who we are and why we do what we do.

Since 1996, the Haskell Educational Foundation has proudly invested in the future of our community by awarding:
- 125+ teacher grants
- 63 student scholarships
- 95 Legacy Students honored

One of our proudest moments? Watching a former Legacy Student come full circle, returning to Haskell CISD as a teacher and being nominated as a Legacy Teacher for the third time last year.

This is the heart of our mission. This is the impact of investing in education. And this is why we’re excited for what the new year holds.

Mini-Grant Teacher Spotlight – Pam Gibson

When the Haskell Elementary music program began in 2007, there were only a few instruments and textbooks to work with. Thanks to the Haskell Educational Foundation Mini-Grants, that has all changed!

Since her first grant in 2008, Mrs. Gibson has filled the music room with beautiful drums, bell sets, xylophones, two puppet theaters and puppets, boomwhackers, and lummi sticks. This gives every student from Pre-K 3 through 5th grade the chance to “Learn to Love Music.”

For nearly two decades, she’s also taken students to experience live performances like the Abilene Philharmonic Discover Music Concerts—opportunities made possible through these grants.

As Mrs. Gibson reminds us:
“Learning to Love Music has been our theme throughout these nineteen years… Giving each student the opportunity to explore music with good quality instruments can positively influence a student for their future.”

We are grateful for her dedication—and proud that Mini-Grants continue to spark creativity and opportunity for Haskell CISD teachers and students.
