Today, I officially submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Harvey regarding the $25,000 payment made on 3/23/26 to the former Mayors mother in connection with a demolition.

This request seeks:
ā€“ Receipts
ā€“ Proof of work
ā€“ Documentation supporting the payment
ā€“ Legal basis for the funds being

When public money is involved, transparency is not optionalā€”itā€™s required.

The law requires a response within a specific timeframe, and I will be following this closely.

Once records are received, I will share them with the public.

I requested a simple record showing the Cityā€™s total debt.

The response?
They said no single document exists.

But they DID provide a Financial Outlook presentation.

And hereā€™s what stood out:

ā€“ The City has approximately $164 million in debt
ā€“ Audits are not current
ā€“ Financial records are not fully consolidated
ā€“ And most concerningā€¦

ā€œNobody sees the Cityā€™s entire financial situation.ā€

Let that sink in.

How can residents understand whatā€™s happeningā€¦
if there is no clear, complete financial picture?

Iā€™m not stopping here.
