We had the best visitors today! 🦁

The Lions Club of Hartsville, S. C. came out to tour our campus and brought lunch and we are so grateful.

Getting to show people our cottages, share what we do, and break bread together is one of our favorite things. Today reminded us that what we're doing here isn't just a Christ City of Refuge effort. It's a community effort.

Thank you, Hartsville Lions, for your time, your generosity, and your genuine interest in the people we serve. We hope you'll come back soon!

To every employer who has hired one of our residents, thank you. Truly.

You took a chance. You saw a person not a background. And because of that, their lives are different today.

At Christ City of Refuge, we walk alongside men and women who are rebuilding. Getting their license back. Getting their feet under them. Getting ready to work. What they need most, after all of that, is someone willing to say yes.

We are looking to grow our circle of employment partners. If you are a local business owner who wants to be part of something that matters, we would love to connect. There is no program quite like watching someone you hired six months ago show up every single day and thrive.

That seat at the table could change somebody's whole life.

Our Christ City of Refuge family is grieving. We lost Mr. Anthony, a man who gave so much to our residents and asked for nothing in return. We are better for having known him.

Today we want to take a moment to celebrate our Program Liaison, Lauren, on her birthday!

Lauren shows up every single day for our residents with love and compassion that is truly one of a kind. She is the kind of person who makes you feel seen and supported, and our residents are so blessed to have her in their corner.

Lauren, thank you for all that you pour into this mission. Christ City of Refuge would not be the same without you. We hope your birthday is as beautiful as the impact you make every single day!

The science on addiction has been settled for decades. It is a chronic brain disorder shaped by genetics, trauma, and environment. Not a moral failure. Not a character flaw. Somehow, the stigma has not gotten the memo.

Shame keeps people from asking for help. Labels keep people from getting hired. And a world that has already decided someone is not worth saving makes recovery nearly impossible before it even begins.

We have watched people the world wrote off get sober, get jobs, and become people their families and communities brag about. That happens when someone decides another person is worth believing in.

You can be that someone. Change the language you use. Cheer loudly when someone makes it. Support the organizations doing the daily, unglamorous work of walking people through their hardest seasons.
