Honored to have not one, but TWO, Mark Twain books in Esquire's The 26 Most American Books of All Time: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Personal Memoirs of U. S. Grant, published by Mark Twain's company Charles L. Webster & Company.

In describing Huck Finn, the editors wrote, ""If you truly want to understand this country, you need to read this book."

Making appearances: at least three presidents, a handful of Pulitzer prize winners, a white whale, and a very nice pig.

150 years ago today, a barefoot troublemaker from a sleepy Missouri river town walked into American literature — and never left. 🎣

On June 9, 1876, Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was published. A century and a half later, it has never once gone out of print.

Here’s our favorite part: Twain wrote it during his Hartford years, and the first American edition rolled off the presses of Hartford’s own American Publishing Company. Tom Sawyer was born right in our backyard. 🏡
