JMU Be The Match on campus is a group of students dedicated to reaching out and informing others of their super power to SAVE LIVES through successful stem cell donation as well as fundraise for the organization The purpose of the JMU Be The Match shall be to promote awareness of blood disorders on this campus and in the Harrisonburg community as well as raise funds for the Be The Match Foundation

NO person should have a lesser chance of survival just because of their skin color. Even with stem cell matches, African American/black patients only have a 23% chance of finding a match while white patients have an 80% chance. If you are privileged, look inward, understand what you have and STAND UP and WORK to make a difference. Do your research, have the difficult conversations with peers and family, donate to the cause and seek ways to help. Thank you to everyone who came out to register yesterday. Especially to our dedicated volunteers. We registered a total of 467 new potential donors into the bone marrow registry. We could not be anymore happy with yesterday's turnout. There is bound to be a match in there somewhere!
