💜What is the cycle of violence?💜
The cycle of violence describes how episodes of abuse are repeated and maintained over time within a relationship.
Fase 1. Tension
Fase 1. Tension
It usually lasts for a period of time, maybe weeks or months. Stress grows and communication collapses. Abusers often verbally abuse their partners, and "minor" incidents of violence can occur. Victims feel increasing danger and often refer to these feelings as if they were "tracing on eggs" during this period, trying to anticipate the mood of the abuser. Family and friends can deny or minimize the danger at this stage.
Fase 2.
Phase 2. Aggression
At this stage, tension has increased and violence has finally erupted. This is an explosive and unpredictable period, which can result in serious injury and even death.
Fase 3.
Phase 3.
It is known as the Honeymoon Phase. This phase can last from days to weeks to months. During this phase, the abuser may be remorseful, supplicant for his/her forgiveness, and promises that this will never happen again. The victim wants to believe this is true. The abuser may look vulnerable, causing the victim a feeling of guilt and responsibility for the well-being of the abuser.
