We were honored to participate in the ceremony to honor Bella. Also a special shout out to Jimmy Costello of Palm Garden Depot for the tree donation and Mr. Dominic Godbold of Godbold Construction for transporting and planting the tree.

As the leaves turn and we gather to share in the warmth of this special season, I am reminded of how grateful I am for each of you. This year has been a journey of growth, challenges, and incredible milestones. 🌟

To our friends and community, your support and encouragement mean the world. You are the heart of our movement at Trees For Champions. We are so thankful your thoughts prayers and support.

As we enjoy this day of gratitude, surrounded by loved ones and delicious feasts, let's remember the joy of home and community. Please pray for those children who are less fortunate. Also, continue to work hard and continue on our quest to end child abuse and neglect.

Yesterday I had the honor as the committee chair for Trees For Champions to do gift a magnolia tree to honor Javier Flores. Javier was tragically killed when an ice cream truck ran into his home last May. I met his parents and family, he was a great kid. Thursday would have been his 13th Birthday. I would like thank Jimmy Costello of Palm Garden Depot in Harahan for the tree donation and Ralph Brandt, President of the Jefferson Parish School Board and Corinna Cannon, the principle and A C Alexander for getting us involved in this project.

Yesterday I was welcomed into the family of the Ignatian Volunteer Corp (IVC). The mission of the IVC provides mature men and women the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor to work for more just society, and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying indignation tradition. I don’t have an assignment yet, but I am sure God will put me where he needs me.

It's absolutely heart-wrenching to hear about this tragic incident. The loss of a precious life due to neglect and abuse is a stark reminder of the responsibility we all share to protect the most vulnerable members of our community. Reporting suspicions of child abuse is not just a moral duty, but a legal and ethical obligation. We must remain vigilant and actively report any signs of abuse to the authorities or relevant organizations. By coming together as a community and advocating for the well-being of our children, we can help prevent such devastating events from happening in the future. We will be praying for this child, her brother and the family.

Sheriff Tregre said the couple “appeared unremorseful” during questioning.
