Here I am sitting in front of
my fireplace this morning and realizing that the last three nights have been below freezing, about how unbearable this must be to our homeless veterans. They are having to deal with the elements with no heat or protection.
There is an acronym that has been circulated is this society for many years now that is ptsd, post traumatic stress disorder. This disorder is horrific and debilitating to our young soldiers. This country should be more concerned about the problem of our soldiers than the living condition of our illegal aliens. I apologize for getting on my political soap box, but it infuriates me that our young people have to come back from war and have to spend the rest of their lives reliving it and our government doesn’t pull out the stops to alleviate it.
There is another term that is prevalent in this society and that is “homeless veteran”. I don’t care what the reason, in this country, the term homeless and vet should not be. I am committed to find one homeless veteran and help him or her have a place to stay warm and dry, and fed . I challenge you to do the same thing. I can can not manage this massive task by myself but if everyone who helps support this page, we can help many. We have so many faithful supporters and I am thankful for that. Last year we were able to help provide a van to three homeless veterans. This year our hope is to be able provide five vans .
Our goal is to have a van outfitted and ready for Christmas. Again I say if you know of any veteran that is in need, please let us know so we might reach out to them. Donations can be food, bedding, towels or linens, personal items, anything that you could use in a camping situation. Of course monetary donations can be sent also .
We have posted information necessary so anyone who is able to make a donation can be tax deductible, it can be tax deductible. If you need further information email me and we can talk more. My email is [email protected].
Right now we are gathering part and materials necessary to turn this into a temporary home for our homeless veterans. If you are able to help we here at vans for vets, would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for all you do and all that you have done.
