Help us find the vandals: Kids Kingdom playground trashed Sunday night

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, between 8:20 PM and 8:40 PM, individuals deliberately caused serious damage to shrubbery and playground equipment at Kids Kingdom Playground (4601 Grandview Road).

Witnesses reported a white Dodge pickup truck occupied by male and female teenagers in the area. More than twenty bushes were ripped from the ground and stuffed into the playground slide, while parts of the playground equipment were disassembled.

This senseless and destructive act harms our children's safe play space and shows a complete disregard for the community. The 2026 Summer Playground Program is almost here!

The 2026 Playground Program is presented in partnership with the Hanover Area YMCA and is designed for children ages K-8. (Children under six must be accompanied by a parent at all times.) Preregistration is NOT required and all events are free. Special activities include Lunch in the Park, Reptile Invasion, Let's Get Packing, and an End-of-Summer Pizza Party! In the case of inclement weather, updates will be posted here on the Parks & Recreation page.

New Penn Township small park refresh! Stopped by the new Grandview Estates Park (Cardinal Dr) this evening! Really nice to see some new equipment and especially like the colors. The play equipment here is also very young child safe. No helicopter parenting required for most.

Full disclosure, they aren't 100 percent done because the swings are missing, so you might want to give it a bit before checking it out. It's also a bit muddy because there's no grass or seed yet, but it looks great!

I know it's been awhile, but it's just been so hot that we've been swimming instead of park-ing! Stopped by the Cross Keys Community Park this morning and it was really nice! Decently well up kept playground (some plywood on and a broken slide) and pavilion, dog park adjacent, and it had a nice little walking path (gravel).

If you're in the area, definitely worth checking it out!

Penn Township is done updating the Allen Drive playground! It just needs cleaned up after all the construction, but WOW what an upgrade. This used to be an old splintering climber with some rust on the side and now it's a new amazing play structure for the neighborhood.

We live near this one, so I am beyond happy to finally have some playground revitalization nearby! My heartfelt thanks to Penn Township Public works for an amazing job on this one!

I don't know how I missed posting about it, but Park Hills School Playground got a recent update, as well! Thanks to SWSD and the PTA, there's an awesome rotunda and new play equipment!

Another great new addition to the area that my kids love, but please remember it's a school playground, so Summer is your best bet for mid day playing.

New Playground at the West Hanover Street Park!

I thought this was still under construction, because there's a large pile of mulch and construction signs, but this park looks ready to play!

While the kid in me will miss burning my butt on a big metal curly slide and playing in the thunder dome, this park definitely needed some love. The Boro did a great job with this redo! The equipment is nice and new and there's a lot of it. Definitely check this park out again, if you haven't been in awhile.

Beautiful day for a playground! Stopped by West Manheim Rec Park this morning and it looks great! New mulch and everything looks awesome. Super well upkept, kudos to West Manheim's Public Works!

Arbor Lane Park update is done! Everything has been painted and upkept and is ready to play on! They also added an overhead "overdrive" spinner, which is pretty cool.

The basketball courts are going to get re-painted and upkept still, but the playground equipment is all ready to go.

Looks like they just opened it, so try to tread carefully on the grass seed, but that's another park getting some love, which is awesome!
