Under the guidance of Master Naturalist Kristy Trevathan, the Clean Green Hannibal Team successfully planted and mulched 56 Missouri wild flowers behind the Tom & Huck statue today. This satisfies the “Green” part of our team name for at least a month or so! Next week we will be back on the “Clean” part.

This is about 1/4 of the debris we picked up debanding a homeless camp up by Walmart. Disgusting pillows, blankets, that were probably given to them by some person thinking they are helping. The smells were horrendous! Thank you team for pulling together today to finish this!

The team worked on Stardust and around the shopping area today.8 bags of trash, there was a homeless camp in a clump of trees behind the closed car wash there. We will have to go back, we couldn’t get it all today. There were 45-50 1/2 gallon containers of Fairlife lactose free milk, many half full, bottles of water, fully cooked bacon packages empty, empty can of Doritos, I could go on and on! It was disgusting, it’s like this every camp we clean up. And I won’t talk about all the used toilet paper! There are trash cans all around there, yet they continue to create a biohazard everywhere they go. This was the 2nd camp this week we have done. Those not pictured but who assisted today were Kristy Trevathan and Lana Todd. Thanks team for a great job!

We cleaned up an abandoned homeless camp up by the old Sutherlands building today, in there were also all these pieces of underground utility cables, we don’t know if they were thrown in there by whomever is working on the building up there for the high school or what but they should have been disposed of properly !

The team worked around the Huck Finn Shopping Center today, concentrating on areas adjacent to Dunhams, Arby's, and the outer road in the direction of Country Kitchen. The extreme heat and humidity made it a difficult day, but we received several shouts of appreciation from individuals as they passed by and that definitely boosted our spirits. Those individuals that helped today, but aren’t pictured are; Sharon Campfield, Judy Schultz and Dawnette Horne.
