HFU Kaua'i Chapter Vermicompost Workshop
Sunday, June 14, 2026 | 9:00 - 12:00 PM
Aloha Ola Farm (Fehring Farm) | 4320 Wailapa Rd, Kilauea, HI 96754

FREE for current HFU members
$20 for non-members.
Membership forms will be available on-site.
Locally powered light refreshments will be provided.

HFU Kaua'i is hosting a Vermicompost Workshop at Aloha Ola Farm in Kilauea, where participants will learn how to build and manage worm bins, create nutrient-rich compost, and explore Dr. David Johnson's bioreactor composting methods to support healthy soils and plant growth presented by Corey Ansley. This hands-on workshop will focus on creating a vermicompost bin and setting up the composting system aka "bioreactor" from Dr. Johnson's findings.

We will discuss exactly how:
➡️ to setup a worm bin, what to feed them and how often
➡️ to make a farm style system with no turning, just patience, to allow nature to digest it into a finished product, making nutrients available at the root through natures microbiome
➡️ to create a living system that helps support both the plants and those microbes making the nutrients into a bio available form.

What to Bring:
• Water bottle
• Sun protection
• Notebook for taking notes
• Any questions about composting or soil health

We hope you'll join us for this informative morning of soil health, composting, and community learning.

Let’s cultivate abundance together—we can’t wait to see you there!

Natalie Urminska

It's understandable to think that regeneratively grown food is free from synthetic pesticides, but that's not always the case.
