VSU Trojan Alum Joshua "Ray" Branch Howell was a featured artist at the Petersburg Public Library in April 2026 displaying his collection Jazzology. During Homecoming, Ray spent time outside of Foster Hall showcasing his extraordinary talent featuring the Trojan Explosion.

The Virginia State University Alumni Association Peninsula Chapter (VSUAAPEN) is proud to celebrate Tyler Pickett, a 2026 VSUAAPEN Scholarship Recipient, on being featured in The Daily Press Pulse section!

Tyler was highlighted in the September 25, 2026, feature, “Young musicians, starting on a strong note,” for his musical journey with Soundscapes. As a talented violinist, Tyler had the incredible opportunity to perform alongside recording artist Roberta Lea at Norfolk’s Harborfest, opening for the legendary Patti LaBelle! 🎻🌟. We had the pleasure of hearing Tyler play at our 2026 Scholarship Brunch.

A student at Virginia State University, Tyler is majoring in Political Science with a minor in Music. His experience demonstrates the power of dedication, adaptability, collaboration, and pursuing your passions.

Tyler, we are excited to see you making your mark both academically and musically! Your accomplishments remind us why supporting our students and investing in their futures matters.

Homecoming 2026 was extra special as we had the opportunity to reconnect with our amazing scholarship recipients on The Hill at Virginia State University! 🎓

Every scholarship represents more than financial support — it represents hope, opportunity, encouragement, and a community that believes in their potential.
