It's TBT, and I think about joining the NWP day at NCTE for the first time last year. I felt welcomed and inspired by the work of the organization.
This upcoming November, I will be presenting as a part of NWP representing Southeastern's community of writers.

In the morning, before I make my first cup of coffee, I like to walk around my house, to check what flowers are blooming and what is ripening in the garden. My cat Robby likes to follow me.

When Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project meets the New Orleans Writing Marathon, it feels like a rebirth, a new beginning. It was a wonderful day filled with newfound writing places and friends. My newly certified Teacher Consultants shared their writing at the closing session. I could not be prouder! 🥰

We did it! Day 10 of writing, reflecting, learning, discovering, healing, and restoring. The Southeastern's Summer Institute 2026 is in notebooks and shared stories, in fun moments and profound realizations, in pictures and in our memories. Thank you, all! My heart is full, and we are already thinking about next summer.

Almost at the finish line. Day 9 at the Summer Institute and message from my graduate student, Jacob White:
"The Summer Institute finished their 9th day strong! We began our morning with a quick writing activity, as always. For this activity, writers reflected on their own work, crafted an imaginary scene, or described a rainy day. We then revised our second piece of writing and provided feedback to peers, beginning a second set of revisions afterwards. We ended another great day with sharing classroom writing activities, and reflecting on the work we've done. One more day to go!"

Day 7 of the Summer Institute, and we are still keeping that pen moving across the page. Reading, writing, conferencing, generating ideas for writing. We are tired by the end of the day, but "it's a good kind of tired," as Mary noticed. We feel accomplished.
