Movie Night at the Hammond Branch. Presented by. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking evening on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 pm as we screen The Roots That Bind Us, followed by a live Q&A with author Angela Allen-Bell and cast members from the film.
This compelling documentary explores how race and justice became deeply intertwined in Louisiana’s legal history—and how those roots still impact the jury system today. The film connects that history to the ongoing injustice faced by individuals incarcerated under non-unanimous jury convictions, even after the law was repealed.

This event dives into:
• Advocacy & legislative change
• Criminal, restorative, and transitional justice
• The legal system & the Sixth Amendment
