Rochester Birding Association The Rochester Birding Association supports birds and birders in greater Rochester and the Genesee Valley region of New York. www.rochesterbirding.com

Welcome to the Rochester Birding Association! The Rochester Birding Association (RBA) is for all people interested in birdwatching in the Rochester area. We bring together people at all levels of knowledge and experience. We were established as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit in 1987 with a focus on education and birdwatching in the birds’ natural environment. The RBA provides opportunities for birders to

expand their skills, meet others who share their interest in birds, and see more species throughout the upstate New York area. We schedule 50 plus field trips during the year. We hold monthly meetings where we have speakers on various bird-related topics. And we publish a monthly newsletter, The Little Gull, with articles and trip reports relevant to Rochester birders.

The Rochester Birding Association is helping support the Smash the
Crash urban bird collision monitoring project this spring, and we’re
looking for additional volunteers to help us cover weekend morning surveys in downtown Rochester.

These early morning walks are an important part of documenting
bird-window collisions and contributing data that helps inform
bird-friendly building practices in our community.

We are especially in need of volunteers who can help on weekend
mornings for the remainder of the spring survey season which will run into early June.

If you’re interested in volunteering or would like more details about
what the surveys involve, please reach out to Charlie Plimpton at
[email protected]. We’re happy to provide training and all necessary guidance.
