Each Friday, find a weekly collect to include in your prayers as well as a relevant resource in the comments below. This week, pray for church work students, that they would be encouraged and equipped for lives of service to Christ and the world.

That all parents would have the desire and resources to teach their children the sacred Scriptures, which are able to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ; for all schools, administrators, teachers and students, that they would prepare young people for lives of service to Christ and our world; and for godly men and women who teach, that they would have the knowledge and skills necessary for their work, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.

God bless the brothers and sisters in Christ gathered this week in San Diego, and especially to our CDC sisters who have served previously and who were just elected to positions of service with the LCMS Hispanic Convention. Deaconesses from sister church bodies such as the Sinodo Luterano de México were also in attendance.

“We share the love of Christ with listening ears, heart, and mind and receive what they (those in our care) give to us in return.”

What a wonderful conversation between sister deaconesses and CDC members about diaconal formation and the beauty of how every woman’s journey to this vocation is unique and God-ordained.

Thank you, Deaconess Dr. Jennie Asher and Deaconess Rosie Adle!

If you, or someone you know, is considering deaconess training in the LCMS, please reach out to get connected to these ladies at our seminaries or to Deaconesses Frances Szeto or Kristin Wassilak at Concordia University Chicago.

We are thankful to everyone who made our exhibit at the LCMS 69th Regular Convention in Phoenix such a great success, and to the many pastors, deaconesses, church workers, laymen and women, children, leaders, dignitaries, representatives of sister church bodies, guests from around the U.S. and world, LCMS District Presidents, and many others who came by to visit and sign our guest book. Special thanks are due to our CDC sisters who held down the fort and represented our organization and LCMS deaconess ministry: Deaconesses Grace Rao, Carole Terkula, and Sarah Gaffney. Thank you also to Deaconess Rachel Bulgrien who organized the giveaways that were so popular and to the ladies of our PR Committee who organized many details from afar to bring it all together. We thank God for each of you!
