John Knab and I today, trying to harvest some potatoes for tomorrows The Historic Dreibilbis Farm Show, to turn into French Fries. Way to wet from yesterdays 2 inches of rain - not happening. Took everything up to Becker's LC Plot on the ridge, to battle it there. 3 hours later, we have a bin. That was NOT easy.

Wednesday I finally got to apply a desiccant to the remaining weeds at The Historic Dreibelbis Farm potato field. Previously Ziggy mowed off the stalks and weeds. I used the CIH 4210b and new sprayer. One tank full did the job. That, was quick!

Afternoon; Jake mowed off the stalks and weeds at Becker's St. Peter's LC potato field. As soon as I can, I'll apply the desiccant there as well. I dropped the sprayer there for use. Reloco tractor and mower to PM to mow off the old string bean plots - prior process to prepare field for rye cover crop as well.

Also, we began 'Fall' plowing of harvested sweet corn plots at The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center in prep for rye cover crop seeding there. Ziggy was working at that 'sommit'.

Benn moving some bigger potato equipment to The Historic Dreibelbis Farm for Saturdays Show 7 Tell, 10AM-4PM. Cum aout wounce - it's in Vivginville.

Finished the 2nd Sweet Corn Patch planting harvest today, and was picked up by Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank - 10.5 bins weighed in at 6,725 pounds, says Jess. WaltZ, SteveB, and John Knab on board, with CarlZ running bins.

Tomorrow we'll do a patch of string beans at Dave Owen's Process Masters field.

Harvested Sweet Corn ditto today at The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. Working on the 2nd Spring planting plot now - Over a half-acre picked, for Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank to local neighbors in need; WaltZ JohnK, SteveB, and the 14 Bins weighed in at 8,712 pounds, says Jess! So far altogether with the other 14 bins done, we've picked 9 ton! More to come.

The potatoes are waiting.

Harvesting more Sweet Corn today for neighbors in need via Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank. SteveB 'The Mad Spaniard' of Becker's St. Peter's LC as Tender on the trailer for this day session. We finished but four rows of the 1st planted acre for another 7 bins worth for the food bank. Yesterday and today weighed in at 4320 & 4905 pounds respectively. That's 9,225 pounds over 4 tons of fresh Bi-color Sweet Corn for hungry neighbors in need - what a treat!

Finally, our Inaugural Sweet Corn Harvest Day! We began sweet corn harvest on the first acre planted at The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center today, with our new used OXBO PIXALL Sweet Corn Harvester. The machine snaps cobs off the stalk as it is stripped through the head, and conveyers those cobs eventually out the back, after blowing out leaves and scraps into the sky. Then a Tender (A clean-picker person - Linda today) plucks out as yet big un-expelled 'trash' out the filling bin back to the field. We got 7 bins full out of the acre planting so far with more to go. Today's farm-to-fork harvest was picked up by Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, for local neighbors in need throughout Berks and Schuylkill Counties here in Pennsylvania. More tomorrow!

Wednesday; four more bins of green snap string beans harvested at Dave Owen's Process Masters field, to Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank! With JohnK clean-picking on the harvester. After John's first full string bean bin, he is celebrated and declared an official IHH 'Be**er'.
