The Whelan Foundation

Our mission is to identify and empower the people and programs who elevate special education throughout Long Island and beyond.

Founded in 2008 by Lawrence and Deborah Whelan, the purpose of the Whelan Foundation is to provide funding and support to not-for-profit organizations across Long Island. We offer a scholarship program for students attending college studying special education and have further expanded our mission to help students with disabilities dramatically improve their level of educational success.

The Whelan Foundation offers scholarships of up to $20,000 per year for four years helping equalize opportunities for students studying in the special education field.
